Performing well in arena/RBG’s should offer the same gear that others can access but at a faster rate and of course, titles/mounts/enchants/xmogs that no one else can access (and which become unobtainable at the end of the season).
Are we actually concerned that not dangling a power creep carrot will hurt rated participation? Or do we just feel that PvP is a better rounded, more enjoyable experience where skill matters less and gear matters more? I’m not following the rationale.
Then you understood incorrectly
We are saying the same thing you are but in different words
Rating level determines the better gear( accessable to all players but at a slower rate to acquire)
PvP should be about who is the best at that given time. Not some vanity dress up sim
Or are you saying PvP on it’s in would not attract participation that you need these dress up mechanics?
If we’re saying the same thing then you’re using the wrong words, lol. Should rated participants receive better gear (higher item level), or the same gear acquired at a more efficient rate?
Honestly, what are you on about? Offering cosmetic rewards will make combat less about skill?
This game’s pvp will never be balanced. The same 2k+ will continue being up there. The bads will continue being bad. The 2kers will continue to insult anyone with an opinion and turn people away from the pvp scene then cry in the next breathe nobody wants to pvp. Its a snake eating itself at this point.
Everyone who queues for pvp upon entering depending on the spec is placed at a staging area where you can right click each panel on the character info page and pick a piece of gear with stats they want for that round. Want to play with a full mastery build instead of haste? Pick the pieces of it instead, same with trinkets. Should be able to select from all pvp related ones. Then the only focus is working up the ranks for mounts, titles and cosmetic xmog at 2k and tabard at 2.4k or whatever it is now. Just a thought.
Wouldn’t that be better gear?
Honestly answer the question
Arena should be like TR
Even though some classes would benefit more so there’s that
Battleground should be free for all
No, it would be the same gear acquired faster. A 2018 jeep grand Cherokee is the same car whether you buy it off the lot or over a few months.
People would still PvP without cosmetic rewards but why not have them? What a strange question to demand I answer.
Now go ahead and clarify this mess of a comment:
At that point shouldn’t it just be based off skill, not who found the bigger stick?
Ok then I understand what you are saying then we do differ
The higher rated player gets the best gear possible
We will use your 2018 used car analogy
Rated player : 2018 with all the bells and whistles , 4 wd, leather seats power windows
Battleground random player
Base model but with time, saves money to upgrade it
Not the same used car at start but with time it will be
Lol the ask
I agree should be just about skill in arena
Random Battleground grounds should be a free for all
I think at this point, people are in denial if they think Blizz is going back to wod style. In no way does Blizz, at this stage, seem okay with allowing those who only do random BGs/worldpvp to cap CP the same gear as a top raider/rated player. So it makes sense to have the tier gear. 460 really isn’t that bad, it’s actually above what anyone gets who does rated pvp below 1600.
It really never has been. Class, spec, comp and even things like wa’s/ addons have impact.
They need to buff the quality, available options and acquisition speed of pvp gear. That is it. Don’t want to pve, don’t, shouldn’t have to.
Separated gear just screws people in the middle. It worked in MoP/ WoD because PvE content was so little players had time to pvp. Legion/ BFA is not the case, hopefully SL is the same.
Think geti/ drest are op? Give a pvp option. Correctly adjust the scaling so the output of stat weapon vs geti is comparable, just different style. Same for on use stat, passive stat or drest. Give the option for which style a player likes best.
Continue to evolve/ improve the system, not revert back to mediocre.
I agree but bliz will never do this again because pve players will always say they feel compelled to participate in pvp to gear up. Yes. Even with a pve alternative and even if said alternative is better.
Pve will always ruin pvp unless it is separate and it will never be. Pve pays the bills
Then they need to get good. We filled in pve gear with pvp gear in vanilla, bc and wrath.
But that is part of why a rating requirement does/ should exist. Let the player decide how to spend their time and reward them equally across the game modes as long as they are participating in appropriate levels.
With all these different systems and ideas being thrown around and their various pros and cons, I am curious when gearing in PvP felt good to players.
For me, WoD was the last time that the process of gearing up for PvP was enjoyable. BG’s are still enjoyable and always will be, but the actual process of gearing has felt bad since Legion dropped. Now it feels like a chore in the way of doing what I want to be doing.
If there is a new ‘system’ that can have PvP gearing feel good again, then fantastic. I don’t need it to be WoD, but I want it to be as enjoyable as it was then.
I really dont get it how did we go so many steps backwards to PVE first and pvp later after you get insane gear from pve?
well look at Classic WoW… what came first PvE , what did people do for gear PvE. There is no point in wow history where PvP was the main source of gear.
In WOD you got gear from Honor farm and Ashran and then Arena or Rated Bgs. Pvp gear was always the best gear for pvp but there was no pvp stat.
In any expansion prior to wod after classic vanilla there was a set to obtain with honor farm. This incentive kept bgs full and queue times at a minimum.
And it was worse than pve gear and slower to obtain…
