Wow offers the player a huge open world game. Lots to do, explore, and involvement. Originally with the first major mmorpgs, one of the main aspects was the social element, interactions, communications, and community. Having fun with others was a main theme. But over time things have changed. There are still players that join guilds and interact with other players. But there also has been an increase of solo players. I was curious to know why some people choose to be social players, and why some people choose to be solo players.
I’m socially solo. I enjoy hanging out with people and doing things and will help random people but god forbid you ask me to group up for a quest or two.
How much data harvesting as you going to do!
I’m 150% solo
More experienced players focus more on solo content and achievements.
Gear from Raids, Mythics, and PvP are all useless after each season.
Bit of both. I enjoy the class lore, but I also like playing with friends.
Was social, now solo.
For some reason this makes me want to listen to Highwayman. The White Buffalo has a good version of this.
I don’t enjoy hanging out with guilds that make everything feel like a business meeting
I do both. When pugging I will always say hello at the start and thanks at the end, more for humouring myself at how many WOW players are so antisocial they cant spare 2 seconds to type a greeting or farewell.
Blizzard’s post in November about suspending players for leaving mythic dungeons was the icing on the cake for me.
my account already has 2 strikes.
Solo all the way. If I wanted to hang out with friends I’d do it in real life.
We were here all along. We just used to be quieter.
My guild is primarily made up of old school people (mostly old raiders) that now just play solo/casual, we all just plod around and do our own things, collect mounts, pets, toys, mog, achievements and such while randomly talking crap in guild chat if the others feel chatty
So solo you don’t even like playing with yourself.
Waitaminute, that sounded better in my head.
I’m both, depending on whether I feel like socializing on any particular day.
I’m saving this for posterity sake…
Most of the time my random social interactions in wow aren’t what you’d call fun…
Everyone thinks they are gods gift and they’re either arrogant or clueless. Rarely anything in between.
I just hang out with the same dudes I’ve played with for years.
ayo pause.
Once upon a time I would spend all my time on a voice program with 4-12 people. All day. Everyday.
We played new games together.
We did raids, mythics, pvp.
Roasted each other.
One day that bubble popped. I havent been an active social player since.
I stream daily, so part of that interaction was transfered to that outlet.
Now people watch me collect while playing solo every day.
