As an end-user, I want the ability to choose whether or not to participate in CRZ or Sharding, so that the term “Low Pop” during server selection meets the end-users expectation.
<- ya like that? wrote the agile user story for ya!
seriously,
It really diminishes the effect of “Low Pop”.
Example:
I created a new toon on a different nonconnected server to be alone, lvl up/go to Nazjatar,
and see the same sausage party I just left camping from my home server/toon.
sharding and CRZ totally screw with my mount camping experience! please make this user configurable either in-game like chrome time or system level in settings.
I felt like it was a complete waste of time leveling up that toon for me, now it only takes more time for logging in, that’s the only difference from logging in to my home realm…
low pop server means nothing to mount farming…
It’s just kind of ghetto but it works for me. Make a alt on a RP realm. Park it where you want to farm a mount. Go to that character and make a LFG with a name you remember. Then log off that character and log on to your farming character. Join that group and you’ll be phased into their shard on a server that doesn’t have cross realm.
thanks for the reply but that statement is wholly inaccurate.
Feel free to research it… ( I don’t know how this blog handles hyper links) I can assure you they are both active and documented .
if you look for Sharding in this CS blog, Sharding is grouped by realm type. there is also a connected realms support page listing all the CRZ .
I have absolutely HATE CRZ. I have hated it ever since it’s introduction. It destroyed the realm communities. Prior to CRZ you knew who the the good people and bad people were. You knew who the clowns and trolls were. The only possible good thing that came from it is lower queue times. I still remember it’s launch; my ex-wife and I were flying on my 2 seat rocket. We hit the zone line and it would boot her out of my rocket… every single time. She fell to her death multiple times. It sucks, still sucks, and always will suck.
I dunno what the heck that means. OK, tho, great … whatever the “agile user story” is.
Brother, if you want to be alone, go roll a toon on a French language RP-PVP server. Those are the ones that are always recommended when I read anything where people are looking for a desolate server.
Unless you’re hitting a login queue, your server pop has no effect on your login time - something affected only by the speed of your computer, and how many addons you run.
Wait… what? Oh … sarcasm. OK. Yeah, again, go roll on a server for another language, and do RP-PVP which are traditionally the lowest populations.
I feel like you’d know this if you did a bit of research on how to farm super rare mounts (like, most TLPD guides recommend the French RP-PVP thing) instead of coming here to complain about server pop listings not matching actual server pop.
But wait…there are no PvP realms anymore, are there?
RP realms should only ever connect to other RP realms. And as far as I am aware, crz only works for servers located within 3 hours of each other, so an East Coast US RP realm would not be crz with one on the West Coast.
Blizzard even set up RP realms to have no sharding because people on RP servers would create RP events. However, the non-sharding doesn’t include anything from Legion onwards (or it certainly didn’t include Legion at the time of the change, so I’m assuming its the same for BfA and Shadowlands).
The lowest pop RP realms are not really recommended anymore, they were all connected up to other low pop RP realms, so more people are running around on those servers.
I found more success with high (not full) pop RP realms.
"No, capital cities should not shard, with the exception of Dalaran above the Broken Isles as mentioned in my post.
If you are seeing issues with this for some reason, please let us know!"
If you are seeing sharding in Stormwind then report it to them because by their account it shouldn’t happen. (Unless there is something wrong, like being phased to a different part of the story on one character or being in WM.)
As if they’d do anything about it. I’ve been in a party with my nephews (same server even) and they were right next to me in Oribos and I couldn’t see them. CRZ simply sucks and needs to go. They need to get rid of it and offer free transfers for those who want it. The only time CRZ should happen is if we have queue times are long on dungeons, bgs, etc. I want server based community back.
I want CRZ/sharding gone too, if only so the weather doesn’t change every 3 minutes when I’m out in the world. I’m tired of a nice heavy rain storm starting only to change subzones and be flung into a shard with default weather.
It depends on when you do it - they usually only have sharding in the cities on realms like Moonguard in the busier periods of the expansion. Dead RP realms don’t have sharding at all in cities.
I played a PvP (bleeding hollow) realm pre-CRZ and loved knowing my enemies. I loved knowing that if I saw them I either had to kill them or get the hell out of there fast. I miss that. Pretty much everything (with the exception of queue times) was superior to CRZ.
