I think the best way to fix PvP would be significantly boost honor from kills and actually engaging in PvP vs the AV PvE style of play.
With AV specifically, put a Cleaner like boss in the main boss room that despawns after once at least 3 towers are destroyed or after 30min has elapsed.
Reward players with honor upon turning in AV items you loot form players/npc’s.
Reward players massive (10k-15k) honor for summoning their boss at center.
The more people who reject GDKP the better! The Mankrik cluster has a healthy mix of loot systems at play for all tiers of content. Hell… there’s even a Naxx raid team that uses open roll on everything lol.
The gear and your toons aren’t going away and items do drop multiple times all the time. There’s no sense of FOMO in Classic Era, it just takes a while for some people to realize it.
Just gotta take it easy, enjoy the slower leveling journey, and avoid GDKP guilds. Global Ignore List is pretty cool too, you can set it to filter GDKP out of LFG

What you said here is simply not true at all.
The only thing that actually matters in a video game is having fun, if you’re not having fun then maybe its time to find something you actually enjoy.
GDKP raiders tend to not quit when they get full bis because there is still the same motivation to raid naxx - they use the gold for other toons or just save up for the really expensive items (gressil, atiesh, tch, kiss, etc.).
SR / LC raiders tend to quit because raiding for no potential gains is boring.
In both instances they kept playing or quit because of how enjoyable the activity was to them.
Korea has laws that require people to use their ID to register for services. When I played WoW in Korea in during OG Vanilla, TBC, and early Wrath, you were allowed to have up to 3 accounts in WoW on the same ID.
As far as so know, there was relatively no difference with regards to the numbers of botters and/or hacked accounts between Korean servers and US servers.

If GDKP raiders don’t quit, it’s because they are RMT gambling addicts who can’t stop spending anymore than some NPC in a casino can stop from annihilating his retirement on slot machines.
I know this is gonna sound crazy to you loot gobblins, but people actually play video games because they enjoy them, not because they’re really trying to get BiS even tho it can be a part of it.
Your counter to me saying gold is a factor that keeps people playing is to say that people keep playing for gold.
I know this is going to sound crazy but one of the main things driving people’s enjoyment of WoW is extrinsic motivators like loot and gold. The BiS is a large part of the cause of the motivation, not an independant factor. As I’ve said, if gear, varying damage and gold didn’t exist as mechanics, nobody would be playing WoW. They’re all integral to the experience.
Some people would quit if there were not so, but the bulk of the players aren’t here for gear; you’re a fool if you think so, because we have already gotten the gear a zillion times and it’s not important at all anymore.
Sure you can and in guild runs too.
But I find it a lot more enjoyable to do in GDKPs, as in my experience with LC after progression is done, there is a ton of loot drama.
Do you give the 14th gressil to the alt of the best pumper or the warrior that has shown up every week but kinda sucks?
What do you do when you lose 5 of your best players because a bad player won multiple rolls and they don’t want to raid with that group anymore and other groups are offering better systems?
Oh it turns out that now the guildies all have so many points on the excell sheet that they can get any item they want and new players are forever locked out… so nobody wants to join. Do you reset the points for your committed raiders?
What about all the meme specs that bring little value and want contested items? Do you allow them? Do you let them only as alts? What do you do when someone’s main losses a core item to a meme-alt and leaves and now you lose a bunch of their friends as well?
These are the types of problems that simply don’t exist in GDKP and destroy the other system’s longevity unless a really good group is working hard to keep everyone happy.
I think you underestimate discrepancy in how popular WoW would have been without these mechanics, but regardless it’s not the meat and bones of my argument. If you’re on whitemane like I am, then I think we can both agree that an uptick in non GDKP raids, just so that new players have more options and a more accessible path to Naxx that doesn’t require several+ months of farming tiers1-3, would be a good thing.
Even if you completely disagree with the gear angle, and think most people don’t care about gear and are intrinsically motivated, more people should be able to play Naxx just for the sake of enjoying it, right?
This paladin is in a non-GDKP guild, who every year re-progresses the raids on fresh characters. This is not the only guild like it either, you just need to look past trade chat and LFG.

dont listen to any sweats posting here. they live in their own little wow world and think theres guilds and people out there not doing gdkps. yea right. 95% of raids are gdkp. they say these things yet are oblivious to whats right in front of them. cause their sweats and refuse to admit vanilla has a lot of flaws especially in 2024. era is a mess now thanks to them
Just because a small part of the community is doesn’t mean the whole of the community is… The overwhelming majority of ERA players are very casual.
I suspect that you want a different version with era players as prisoners because you’re bad at Era and slightly less bad at later version and think that if everyone caters to you then you will have a better time pretending you’re gods gift to WoW.
Unfortunately for you its not going to happen how you want, and if by some miracle they close Era and force TBC on us… And maybe 5% of the players stay in your TBC prison, bad news because TBC is 10x as sweaty, and you’re never gonna be “That Guy”.
I wager you will be lower mid pack at best no matter the content, be that dungeons, raids, arena or BG.

Maybe try and get over the fact that you’re mad because you’re bad at the game?
Maybe spend some time talking to other players that are better and try and improve yourself?
Maybe consider playing a single player game so you’re not so bitter and angry all the time? You might be able to make some friends with a different attitude.
