I am going to be honest, I saw the mistweaver monk class and I was extremely excited about it. That alongside vulpera made me insanely excited.
I wanted to try a new style of healer that was more in peoples faces and punching and kicking and it was all very exciting-- not to mention I got to be a cute vulpera while doing it.
Kung fu foxxxy? Sounds amazing to me.
Not to mention I heard information coming from the PTR about amazing new things like the ancient teachings of the monastary and rising mists build which would fully enable me to be a fistweaving.
Then the reality struck like a bolt of lightning.
It’s really weak. It’s really imbalanced. No pugs want it. It’s a hated class.
4.5% of healers of 15 keys (NOT TALKING ABOUT HIGHER THAN 15) are mistweaver monks.
Don’t tell me that this doesn’t influence group discrimination. People that flat out refuse to take a mistweaver no matter what.
This is one of the most discouraging things about this game-- if you want to play what you actually want to play you can end up being completely shunned from the game for it.
I really so badly wanted to be a fistweaving monk foxxxy but alas apparently that’s too much to ask for.
Did you look up what percentage of all healers are mistweaver though? That 4.5% doesn’t have a point of reference so it doesn’t mean anything. If 4.5% of all healers are MW then that percentage is fine. I do believe they are less popular, but I also don’t see that many MW come along in the group finder. It just wasn’t a popular choice to begin with.
I’ve never avoided MW when they are a choice in M+. If you want to play one you should do it.
they dont care about balance above mythic 7 level of difficulty. they cant possibly be this bad at balancing so i think they have the attitude ‘if you want to enjoy a spec and be accepted into the community, you’re going to have to play the FOTM. unfortunately, this is a community problem and we have no intention of fixing it’
It’s really just wanting to be picked for basketball in high school , the leaders just pick all the tall people first. The rest get left out. Using stats and all is nice but it’s nowhere close in SL to really show the worth of a class/spec.
People constantly misread stats, look at the face value and say ‘‘pugs don’t want me cause of it’’.
That’s the pug life for you, they chase the ‘meta’, ‘fotm’.
Either find a guild that doesn’t look at that stuff (I’ve seen plenty advertising just that since people are leaving during this lull period)
Or do your own group and grind your own key.
Misreading stats, taking it at face value and translating it to some issue you have with MW and pugs is kinda … a very poor way to go about enjoying this game.
People are literally doing MDI tactics almost in heroic dungeons lmao, so getting rejected is a list of things… poor raider io score… group lead wanting the ‘meta’ comp… etc… this time around the crowd has gotten really odd this xpac.
As someone that runs higher keys, and is branching out to alts and other specs let me tell you a secret. There is a huuuuge perception problem in this game, there are a lot of specs that are viewed as useless that are really only marginally weaker in some areas. You would be shocked.
To be fair mistweaver is always low on % because monk is typically a low population class. But you are right, a lot of pug groups don’t accept mw due to the perseption of the class. This is the first time since I’ve been playing that ive seen mw join the list of don’t invites.
Sucks that it’s like that now, sorry you have to deal with it. Mw is my favorite healer as well but I just don’t play it cause the same reasons. Hopefully next patch will be better. Push your own keys is really one of the only options for a MW.
One of my die hard mistweaver friends got ksm the first month of m+ and stopped playing because how bad mw is (he’s the type to push as high as you can go)
