The icyveins damage guide for M+ doesn’t mention wrath even once. Even on single target you are supposed to catweave unless you run out of energy. Even single target, you apply sunfire and moonfire, go into cat form, and apply dots. The only time you should be using wrath is if you have literally all dots rolling and have no energy, but that is such a small window that it might as well not even exist when you factor in healing.
Healer is the one role I refuse to do in m+. I’ve done all roles up to +25s and I honestly would rather drink bleech than play healer in this healer dps meta.
“It’s a skill issue”
Out of allllllll the threads we’ve had on the topic, I don’t believe the main complaint is “it’s too hard”.
The Resto Shaman DPS rotation is what… Keeping a single DoT up and then casting Lava Burst when it lights up?
You’re deluded if you think it’s hard to DPS as a healer.
The issue I’ve always had is it’s just not fun.
A healer should be judged by the HPS and how few deaths the group had. Not their min-max oooh you saved us 2.4 seconds on this boss.
bro most of us just don’t want the healer texting during the pull or afking.
sometimes there’s no damage going out, just fill ur globals with the sweet sweet dps
it’s not expected really but i feel like that’s not much to ask for
To me as a healer the gameplay it introduces is shifting focus between enemy and ally. When you are on top of this balance, it feels like you are on the ball in a really dominant way. When you only focus on healing, and I know how it feels to do this because I do it sometimes too when I am lazy, it feels like nothing bad can happen, because as long as yo don’t fall asleep nothing bad will happen.
I’ve done so many pug groups and ran with ppl semi regularly for M+. When I healed I don’t recall one time someone complaining if I wasn’t dps’ing. Especially on MW. I do not like to fistweave. Never had a complaint.
I’ll play how I want to play and I do not let no life sweats dictate my fun.
Always tossed out a bit of dps but keeping dps alive was/is/always will be my priority over some dps I put out as a healer.
I really find what I am reading hypocritical. This, of course, is not directed at everyone.
Everyone and their mothers want and expect healers to do DPS.
But the moment I or another healer says:
“okey, but I want Blizzard to increase my damage so I can do quests without problems.”
The first thing the rest of the players say is: “hey, what for? you can switch to DPS”.
If I can’t have my damage increased then I don’t plan on doing DPS on M+.
The point is:
Some people like and enjoy doing everything in the same Spec.
I hear ya but you don’t get it. Mythic world first raiders were doing things to game reposte and maximize DPS.
At the time (mists I believe) it worked against you to have stats like parry and dodge. Tanks would turn their backs and sit or take off gear to take more damage to give more damage .
Doing damage is fine. You need that for Aggro. But these guys were doing damage that rivaled too DPS even single target.
If they’re not dying then that is the correct play. Survivability and healing is only useful until the point when you no longer need it to survive, at which point your remaining resources should go into damage. It’s the difference between playing to win and playing not to lose. You win when the enemy hits 0 hp, you do not win when your allies are healed to full. Once you have enough tankiness such that you’re no longer losing, it’s time to start winning. Even today tanks have offensive builds and defensive builds and they pick one depending on which they need for the content.
I don’t see how playing to maximize your own damage even as a tank is something we should discourage. If my tank isn’t dying, how should he spend his surplus effort? In figuring out how to not die harder?
But damage has another value besides that. Namely that it kills people. Damage is damage. It does not matter who it comes from. It’ll kill the boss all the same. The tanks will not do as much damage as the DPS, but they should be aiming to do as much damage as is safely possible.
No they weren’t. You know how I know? Because they didn’t field 17 tanks. If tanks did the same single target damage as DPS, then it would be better to use all tanks for your DPS since they’re harder to kill. Even if I assume they did, that’s not the game we have today. DPS are not in danger of being replaced by tanks.
The uneven pillar is the lazy healer refusing to participate in content with the rest of the group.
I click the healer button when i queue. Do you want me to tell you what the definition of healing is?
Doing whatever it takes to complete the dungeon and not be half afk.
Like every other role.
I agree but eh.
I am not arguing what I seen with my own eyes. You don’t even have a point.
Healing - “the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again.”
Hmm weird, l wasnt aware that DAMAGING something made it healthier!!
Owned.
Less hp on the target less healing required.
Owned.
less mechanics less damage.
Don’t get hung up on the role name.
You’re playing the class, not the role. Use the whole kit.
Just stand in everything thats what the healer is for.
You are slipping away from reality with that post. You have no care for the fundamentals, the pillars to you are nothing because you want to tear them down for whatever weird reason. Your arguments have no validity because you know speed isnt part of the problem…YOU are part of the problem.
