As a black player....oof

Stop virtue signaling in the game, please. Many players like myself are upset about a lawsuit that covers gross behavior, and even mentions racial disparities, in 2021. Not one complaint has been directed towards voice lines of an in-game quests or achievements. So it is beyond unnecessary, and I can’t believe I would have to say this but here goes:

Racism isn’t a quest patch. Removing “Green skin” insults isn’t removing racism from wow. For 10+ years white customizations were forced on gamers of color (imagine the opposite), so such a gross political agenda as tying real-world racial skin tones to a should-be fantasy game fostered an environment where people aware of that disparity felt racial authority to tell others why non-caucasian eye features // brown skin tones shouldn’t exist as though they were inherently qualified to discriminate, and we still don’t have brown night elves whilst you can fit black + jamaican lore onto trolls accent, trolls dance, orcs dance, goblins dance, and taurens choreography source as well, not to mention pandas asian inspiration, all of which existed before you could actually be a humanized human…

So all of this extensive context being boiled down to a horde vs alliance division or bro’s before ho ho achievements borders on racial/sexist mockery when you blindly go around censoring parts of the game that make Warcraft Warcraft when theres so much substantial changes you could finish instead.

(As a female player oof) inspired.

I thought they added darker skinned night elves? Because I thought people complained about that?

Was there another skin color you wanted bel?

Did you see the likes the original thread got and thought,
“Oooh I have an idea!”

I guess I’m a little curious about the “brown Night Elf” thing to be honest. Where is the line between having fantasy races that are literally purple, golden, and ivory, that make no sense having human spectrum skin colors, and trying to be representative of the players?

I completely understand humans, dwarves, and gnomes, getting a full spectrum here. They’re the most representative of the human spectrum.

Night Elves have no biological basis for being brown, white, or any other normal human skin tone. In fact we know the High Elves only became white due to magical interference over millenia; it’s established that Night Elves are simply not those colors because of their evolution and biology.

Wouldn’t it be virtue signaling to give them colors that break their lore just to look diverse?

They added only gray night elves during player demands to make customizations look more like themselves on at least a basic human level, and only carried that promise on to high elves (another elf with existing white skin tones already) before dropping the ball. But what makes it worse is when they add unnecessary changes into wow like the recent orc quest patch whilst night elves literally have a hair color named after Sombra (a Mexican overwatch character), while conveniently forgetting Sombra’s complexion (the thing they wanted to appear tolerant of during Blizzcon to boost sales.)

I don’t speak for all black players (I’m half black and Asian to be more specific) but I really do have 50/50 feelings about everything. On one hand, I love to be included in the customization options, the day I got to make a black human with more prominent black features, I can’t tell you how happy I was. On the other hand, I do wish we could address racism but without people feeling they need to treat me a certain type of way. I like to base my interactions with people through their personalities and not their skin color, so only hope they can do the same for me.

Until you proclaim yourself unknowingly or not to be a douche, you’re a decent person in my book and it’s not hard to go up from there.

Night Elves didn’t even evolve naturally at all. Very few playable races actually did.

They won’t. Once infested stays infested. You gotta understand they’re nothing, but kids in a grown up body at that work place. Let their competition win us over so we can watch this company crumble. I hope Riot Games mmorpg don’t fall under that route when they’re doing lewd stuff for their game.

Real question; is this an actual request? Does the lack of dark-skinned customizations result in a race automatically being coded to be white? Because I never got that impression from the night elves.

Seriously?
Come on… What is up with these threads.

It’s a bloody game and not IRL political sitcom. Stop with these total BS threads.

What’s next? I got a b00bjob so now my character should have the same option?
Ah shut the front door man.

No one cares if you’re whiteblackfatskinnygaystraightgreenskinporkchopdonaldtrump. Seriously. No one cares. Play the game. Enjoy the game for the game it is.

People around here should really stop victimizing themselves.

I thought black skin color was always an option for humans. Am I misremembering? Or is this about having black options for fictional races?

I can almost guarantee all these changes have nothing to do with player complaints, and everything to do with having something to wave around in court to back up, “but we’ve changed!”

Really odd thing, but I like to put a slice of cheese and some glazed balsamic on top

You’re stretching it with this one. I can understand fantasy races having elements were can refer to reality hence why they were inspired into those races, but brown night elves. You looking kind silly right now. If any comes close to dark elves are blood elves.

Um that’s what Blizzard / Activision been doing for awhile with their censorship brigade for the past recent years. Where have you been?

That’s what Blizzard been promoting as of late. Yes it sounds silly, but look at their progress thus far in recent years. They got woke my dude.

Most people who play don’t really care about a race that looks like them. Guys play female characters and most people who take the game seriously play the race they think has the best racials.

You like so many others are driving the dev team off a cliff prioritizing things that don’t matter. I do agree with you on the achievements those changes don’t matter either. If anything it’s a negative hit to their PR on their existing audience.

Which they seem to love doing.

I’m using the in universe concept when I say this, because as you point out most of them didn’t “evolve naturally” but they did alter over time. It’s worth noting that evolution is simply the adaptation of heritable traits and can occur within a single organisms life time (an organism that changes during it’s life and passes on that change has undergone evolution, however minute).

So even if the evolution is occurring due to magical influence, it’s still the rough scope of evolution. The adaptation of heritable traits over successive generations. Night Elves absolutely have their skin tone, it’s absolutely heritable, and they do not currently have other heritable skin colors.

It might be fueled by magic but it’s still evolution in a sense.

I mean, depending on what kind of cheese, that could work

These are real phots of night elves with non-fantasy based skin colors. So when you add white skin, a real world racial population into something that should be a fantasy game, it’s fine unless you do so discriminatorily, which has been done. Not to mention the tone-deaf nature of the discriminatorily exclusive customizations while adding the unnecessary prospect of naming a hair color after Sombra (a mexican) makes the problem even more glaring.

So you’re saying we should only have access to teletubbies colors?
So basically every single game is racist then.
Oh man. Commander Shephard is white!
So is Master Chief. And they both saved the world! Oh no. Those racist ducks!

What about mixed population?
Half mexicans half americans.
Half korean half white.
Because half chineese half white will have a different skin tone.
Heck, my wife has a different skin tone!

Whats the color pallet we are working with here? 100,000+? Looks like blizz is against the vast majority of the world then. At least according to your logic.
