Artstyle Direction Critique

Why is everything washed out, dusty, and muted?

Dragonflight had this issue too.

This artstyle is soulless and lame IMO. Its certainly not in line with the franchise either.

Its kind of bad when a 20 year old zone looks more beautiful than the new one dont you think?

Why is everything so dusty? I feel like im in a dusty brown and grey hell. It looks like im in Beijing 90% of the time.

Where in particular?

Just doing a tour right now through ringing deeps, hallowfall, and the spider area.

Seems like I should keep my kids indoors with how much smog is in these caves.

It makes it look horrid and im frankly not excited to play here. Deepholm looks better in comparison atleast everything is crisp and has contrast.

They should tone down the particle/mist effects by like 70% so we can actually breathe and see the zones. I’m getting claustrophobic flying through here.

Is it that hard to make the air clean?

It’s less taxing on graphics processors mostly.

This should be an option to turn off and on.

Every zone looks like it has a 200 pm25 score

Have you tried playing with your graphics settings? There is one where it adjusts fog effects. You might be able to tune it so it’s less annoying to you.

I tried, nothing gets rid of it.

This is more about texture art than anything else graphic related.

And will agree with the op, the colors and textures for the last few expansions have felt washed out and somewhat depressing/mute, even when there is a variety of colors.

Yeah, no amount of graphics tweaking will fix texture design. Least not any of those that won’t get you banned.

jacking up the contrast to 100% and messing with some other things kinda helped, still a bit disappointed.

It seems like whatever the engine is doing to deal with render distance adds a smogginess to the game, and that on top of the particle effects they add compound onto all of the muted textures. It isnt as noticeable in older zones since they are well colored and bright.
