Artisan’s Mettle being required for crafting orders, yet require you be a crafter, is just stupid. This should be sold on the AH for the people who just don’t want to craft or let us check a box to let the crafter supply them, or just delete the item.
I have like 5000
If you don’t do any crafting or gathering, then simply ask your crafter what their fee is (if any) for them to cover the mettle.
Don’t forget you can turn in Dragon Shards for 50 mettle a piece if you have them.
You also get free Mettle from Thomas every week.
If we need more sources for non-crafters, sure I’m all for it. But there’s a weekly that offers up to (I think) 150 mettle depending on your rep with the Artisans, and you get them for knowledge points and dragon shards.
There also is a checkbox on the crafting order page that you can choose to require the crafter to supply mettle. I’d talk to them first if it’s personal though.
I’ve got thousands and I don’t know what to do with them.
I just pop Illustrious Insights into everything to guarantee 5-star crafts, these days. No extra charge.
I wish this was true for everything. Unfortunately, it isn’t
For example, 447 Blacksmithing weapons with embellishments are always pure RNG. I’m not sure how I feel about that sort of design. I can see why given the power it gives players but it can get frustrating for clients who have to pull the slot machine lever excessively.
I have so much artisans 's mettle I’m considering deleting a few stacks from my bags. Not really a problem lol.
Depends on the profession.
Some flasks can be guaranteed rank 3 if you use illustrious insights, and that burns through your mettle quickly.
Some professions, sitting on thousands and thousands of mettle.
Well…at least the upside to that is that by the time you’re crafting those sorts of items, your skill/inspiration should be high enough that you don’t need rank 3 materials in order to proc the 5 star.
You are correct. R2 mats are perfectly acceptable for R5 procs with high/max-skilled crafters and the correct KP placement. Some R2 mats can be a bit costly, but it’s still better than requiring R3s
That supports my opinion that this should be able to be sold on the AH. Crafter’s have tons of it and people who don’t want to craft really don’t want to deal with it.
Thank you all for the feedback on easy ways to get the little that I currently need!
So, this is an item that should be sell-able on the auction house then. If people want to quest/harvest for them great, if they want to farm gold to buy them… what’s the difference to the bottom line player retention? shrug
I’m not sure how I feel about this one since there are power implications with doing so.
What are your thoughts about one of these options instead:
- Making it sellable to vendors (and at a reasonable value: maybe 10 gold or so each?)
or
- Place cosmetics/etc. on the vendor to purchase with excess mettle
I just learned after deleting 3k+ from my bank that you can turn it into pretty high profession XP points… for me, herbing and mining… now I’m regretting deleting it all beause I was so annoyed with it, thinking it was only for crafters
Who do you turn it in to? Your profession trainer? I have 8k filling up my bags for no good reason.
People should be able to turn it into skill points for catchup… 1 point for 100-250 mettle or something like that. Though they will just replace it with a new currency in TWW.
i have no idea who to turn it into for profession knowledge either. somebody tell us
yeah i will look on wowhead now but anyway
edit: looked on wowhead it’s a vulpera next to the work order request area stations and requires rep with artisans that i probably lacked which is probably why i never did it
I never understood the rational of Artisan’s Mettle. It’s billed as a way to improve the quality of crafted items but all I see is an artificial layer of complexity in crafting.
As far as I know, he just sells a couple of books for mettle. Gives a nice amount of knowledge (maybe 15 or less) but it is a one shot thing. 2 books per profession.
