Artisan Acuity for gatherers?

As a gatherer how am I supposed to get enough acuity to make the tools and still have enough to also have my gear crafted?

As far as I understand it I have to provide this as the person making it can’t and outside of the initial quest I can’t get anymore? Sometimes WQ’s supposedly give you some but I haven’t seen any and these tools cost 300 each.

Should I even make tools if it means I can’t craft the necessary gear later on. That would seem like its not intended so I have to be missing something here.

Good question.

so you want to have your cake and eat it too you’re saying?

Well yes I wouldn’t mind being able to have the gathering tools I need for my profession crafted. I’m guessing that its intended for us to be able to have them.

Before the hotfix you could apparently have the crafter supply it which made sense but without that gathers don’t have enough to have more than 2 of the 6 tools crafted and only if they don’t have any embellished items crafted in the next couple of weeks.

It’s kinda ridiculous how gatherers get housed, and don’t even have Thomas Bright as a weekly source anymore.

So for me to buy every knowledge book, get every tool AND get some gear crafted on my gatherers, I’m screwed? There’s no comperable way to get the stuff as crafters can.

No, I want to get acuity at the same rate as crafters.

In the course of farming you should be finding items that boost your knowledge…those give a bit of Acuity. Treatises made be Scribes also give Acuity…though you can only learn one a week. But we are taking 5 or 10 Acuity a shot…it’s not a lot.

If you have double gathering it’s likely to be a slow grind.

Do the knowledge points from nodes not give acuity anymore? I legit havent even paid attention since none of my toons ever run double gatherer.

I already found all the one time knowledge items and did the one time quest to give you 300 as well as all of the other ways I could find and it totaled to 690.

I’ll need 900 just to make the tools for a single profession, 1800 for both and than add the cost of actual gear and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do which sucks because I just dropped 40K in buying mats to make a tool before realizing that I needed to sink 300 acuity into it and its extremely limited.

Alchemy seems to also be bad for this as most people won’t go to through the crafting system to have flasks made instead they just buy it off the AH.

You get 5 per KP gained (pretty sure I’m not hallucinating that), so it should slowly accumulate slowly (very slowly) over time.

Alchemy is fine, there’s about a dozen patron orders a week to get bonus knowledge points and acuity. I think it’s one of the cheapest professions if you’re not rushing.

Yeah I was fairly sure that was how it worked, terribly slow compared to having any crafting prof unfortunately.

So we are not expected to have any tools for months?

Crafting does get more but they also have to spend it on recipes, so everyone’s got a bit of grind ahead.

(It feels both better and worse since a crafter has a choice, but also the buyer’s remorse of feeling like the wrong choice was made.j

So realistically the only way to get tools made is to profession shuffle. Gather all the profession treasures and first time crafts for that profession, drop it and learn a new profession and do it again, than again until you got all of it from every profession available. Than come back to the profession you really want relearn it all the way to cap and now you have enough acuity to make all your tools???

That seems like a massive oversight.

But is it really even that? I mean the breaks are on. No training wheels. I have one alt that just mines and gathers herbs. More or less locked out of Acuity gains. My main is going to need a month to get enough Acuity just to craft my profession tools after my Charged Claymore two hander.

So many of the ways we got used to in DF. Do not work here in this expansion and it sucks. We are being drip fed and little can be done about it. Also, it is kind of hurting me trying to focus on myself and not others this time around.

no they changed that - you no longer get AA from profession treasures. That is how they ended up screwing things up this expansion - way too many changes at the last minute that didn’t make sense

Even the skill books I bought with Kej in Azj-Kahet didn’t provide any AA. Now that I think of it. I think the only things that award AA are what is bought with AA from the Artisans Consortium Quartermaster. Don’t even think what we unlocked with rep awarded AA. Will confirm that with an alt later for myself.

Now you have something to look forward to?

If it takes a month, it takes a month. If it takes three months it takes three months.

I don’t personally see it as a good or bad … it’s just … what is.

It’s past time for them to bake gathering into the production professions. Just do it already.

If it takes 3 months for every profession tool that is bad for the entire system.
