Just gave up on ever finishing jailer’s gauntlet past level 6. Frankly, its not difficult save the endlessly spammed number of player incapacitate effects. Its actually a bit of a joke that rather than invent some form of mechanic, blizzard’s answer to countering player ability is to just flat out freeze you out of doing anything. Can’t avoid mechanics if your character is 3x stunned over into a fear into a horrify into another stun lock.
Additionally, if you wait for one month, it will be so much easier at level 70. Hopefully the amount of gear people will have will push them through the nonsense.
this is the new blizzard. I’d…not bank on that.
they had BFA scale to SL to make leisurely strolls of BFA decent gear and level capped for SL…not so leisurely.
I tried to go back to rep it up for flying at 197+ pvp season 1, then 220 season 2. Mobs ran like SL mobs really. all it gave was the damage mitigation of the better armour. you could not die easily. damn near had to want to die really to do it. Its just you hit like a wet noodle.
Why I say new blizzard. I deemed old blizzard the Legion to BFA change. even basic open world gear and level cap had legion runs for rep not all that bad. Dungeons weren’t too bad either.
I just hope the future of this game isn’t a new constant spew of bosses comprised entirely of 1-shot RNG.
I solo’d layer 7 by myself and pretty much stopped when I got to 8. Primarily because of the ever-increasing things you cannot stop because you simply do not have enough stops for them and you don’t have enough means of living through that many bosses while thrown into things which cannot be broken out of. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.
On the bright side, if you really wanna get it done, doing it in a couple of weeks when we’re all DF leveled and hopefully a bit busted should be easier. The issue for me is there’s no real reward for doing Jailer’s Gauntlet beyond 4 considering there’s no tangible reward, other than achievement points, which still have no use.
It’s a game mode that AFAIK cuts off at Level 4, with additional levels being “for fun”.
It’s definitely not well-tuned past level 4 but I can appreciate those extra levels existing, just so you have something to go against when you have that really degen build running that can do a million DPS.
Have you tried dodging the stuns? My friend piccolo tells me that works.
Which is fine if thats how the upper floors are scaled. But for the first floor to require an absolutely perfect storm of RNG power drops, boss spawns, and timers on defensives vs the never-ending incapacitates… its just embarrassing for the devs if you ask me.
Except that are CCs that need to be interrupted. And there can be multiple happening if you don’t have enough DPS to kill the double-boss pull before more mobs come out.
While I get the point you’re making here, the other thing to remember is that the mode quite literally says on the page when you queue up that you should bring friends and that this isn’t something which you should hope to solo. You can solo it if you want and if you wanna continue running out and resetting hoping for the perfect storm of powers, but it is intentionally designed in the manner it is because the game is assuming you will have more than one stun or two, a couple of kicks, someone to help manage the threat, or perhaps someone in the back keeping you alive who can avoid the stuff and help facilitate your damage.
Git gud. Its a solo mode for challenge. Can’t beat it? Not anyones fault but the players.
…It’s not a solo mode. The game actively tells you to bring other people with you for the sake of getting it done. You can solo it. But it’s not a solo mode.
When I bring friends, they just die first and eat up all our deaths.
It’s mostly non-interruptable.
There’s a colossal gap between Layer 7 and Layer 8. Probably why you haven’t done Layer 8, either.
Grats on stopping after Layer 2 btw.
Git on my level scrub.
it’s like how my hunter alts didn’t do the ‘get Hati back’ BfA quest line until they were ilvl178 so they could cheese romp it.
some day, i’ll have my warlock alts do their green fire thing
I mostly mention the couple of kicks for a few bosses that are more egregious than others with kickable abilities to be honest. A good example is fire bro from Soulforges who has the shout which reduces max HP. Couple him with someone like the tree dude who constantly stuns you but will also cast a massive regrowth in the middle of it, and you’re in for a bad time. Not to mention all of the other bosses doing outright terrible things.
While you are correct that most of it is non-interruptable, I bring up the kicks purely for the sake of those egregious examples where kicks do definitely benefit the group.
All the same though, you are right. There is a colossal gap between 7 and 8. I absolutely felt it when I was trying to solo 8 on my own and it did result in me saying screw it for the moment.
Yeah i did it on my monk alt that had 200ish ilvl like what 6 months back? So what do i need to beat your jailers gauntlet to have an opinion?
I even use paralysis as a ranged interrupt when the beholder thing starts channeling his beam to knock me off the platform.
The simple fact is that once you get to 10 or 12 mini-bosses all spamming their abilities at once - which is what happens on layer 8 - there’s a point where you just run out of stuff you can do.
Now, are there certain specs that can mega-cheese this? Sure.
Oh absolutely. I solo’d all of the layers I did as arms warrior (purely for DBS) and only having kick, stormbolt, and one AoE fear? Bad times. Without infinite DBS and good powers on the first round, it’s almost impossible to live through the nonsense.
