I started Legion chromie time at level 65. I got the artifact weapon and it is item level 10 and won’t change.
and it never will since you cant collect artifact power for it anymore. Relics are hit and miss to increase item levels, but with the removal of artifact power, the weapon cannot power up.

I think you still have those ‘gem’ slots, i.e., relic slots, in each artifact weapon, and you just have to find relics that fit in there. The relics can really vary in item level themselves. I believe they’re what upgrades the artifact weapon’s item level.
it will to a point, but not much, my artifact weapons have all mythic argus relics and it brought the weapons up to item lvl 70
Well, oof in that case. Might as well swap between your artifact weapon and an heirloom depending on what the quests want.
