Artifact weapon colors

Hello, there.
I’m sure this has been brought up already or maybe it was something that was already said in the beggining of the spac but whatever:
Since I finally dusted off my feral druid last week after leaving him on standby after acquiring the mage tower artifact appearance I went to the transmogrifier and found out that… I can’t transmogrify into my sweet mage tower appearance…
I also only have exactly 1 color from each of the other rows I unlocked during legion (the ugly ones, mind you) despite the fact that in many of them I have 3 or 4 unlocked.
Why is that? Is it because I need to be wearing a set of 1 handers? Do I need to meet a special requirement?
Asking this because I main a paladin and absolutely all the artifact colors where available to me since the get go.

Right click the artifact weapon in the xmog window and you can choose your color variants

Thank you
But what about the mage tower appearance? It doesn’t show in the trasmog options even though I did unlock the base color.

So in the xmog window, where the weapons are showing. Go right click on one of them, and a box showing all the different animal skins associated with that weapon colour will show.

It’s a completely ridiculous system, and the devs are aware of the limitations behind it. From an interview last November with technical director Patrick Dawson:

People applauded really loud when Blizzard announced the release of transmogrification system. It’s a wonderful feature and people spend a lot of time collecting appearances. Your latest addition was artifacts-- we can use them for transmogrification. For example, I’m playing a Feral Druid and use daggers and I can’t change the appearance of these daggers. I may use only one form and that form is tied to the visual appearance of these daggers, but it doesn’t match my transmog set. May I change the appearance of this item along with my cat form?

PD: Druids are very unique. No other class has that issue when the weapon is associated with the form that they take, so, that’s tricky to solve. With the other classes if you look at it holistically a mage wielding Felo’melorn, an iconic look of a weapon, if they were able to transmog it into a staff it wouldn’t exactly look right. You kind of need that pairing of the main hand and off hand. In general, it’s not something that would be wise for us to pursue like for most of the classes. Druids are a special situation. It’s an interesting problem you brought up-- it’s not one that I personally have thought about too much. I know there are people on the team who are like you, probably experiencing the same thing. I’m sure it’s something that we’ll talk about.
