Artifact Transmog for Shadowlands

So in the spirit of returning class identity and loosening transmog restriction could Blizzard potentially allow artifact xmog cross specs. However, I can still imagine certain benefits for a spec and its artifact.

Ill use a fire mage for example.

If a fire mage currently has a staff, they would be able to mog into their own artifact AND frost/arcane’s artifact.

If the same fire mage had a 1 hander with an off hand then they’d only have access to their own artifact.

Essentially only specs can overlook thier current weapon types for their own artifacts but only be able to mog into another spec’s if their current weapon allows it.

As a ret pally who unlocked all of holy’s artifact skins, I’m dying to use them as ret! Make it happen Blizz!

As a Priest who has a Void looking Holy staff, I agree.

And as a Druid, I don’t see why I can’t have an owl on a stick as Balance. Is there some hidden lore rule somewhere that specifically forbids a caster from carrying a certain looking branch?

Also: I would love for them to find a way to make our cat and bear forms work for Balance and Resto. So when I kitty dash I can be a meowl!

Second ret paladin here, totally agree!

Exactly, it made sense in legion and BFA since spec identity was the focus.

Now that we’re returning to class identity I see zero reason why mm hunters cant use BM’s, sub and assassination their daggers, etc, etc.

Ive always maines ret. If i went out of my way to get the freaking holy mage tower weapon, I think ive earned the right to use it as ret. Especially, with shadowland’s class identity hook.

While I would be 100% in favor of doing this, it’s probably a bit unlikely.

Apparently, the artifact weapons are hard-coded to specific specs, and separating them would be a massive pain. It seems like it was hard enough for them to make them work in the current mog system as it was.

That being said, I know at least a few of my alts would appreciate the additional options. I’m sure I could make a few shadow mogs for my priest using some of the holy and disc staves, and my frost DK could do some cool stuff with the Blood and Unholy weapons.

They DID say that they’re going to loosen the transmog restrictions on legendaries, so perhaps Artifacts are in the cards as well? I wish someone would have asked about this at Blizzcon, woulda been a good question.

Yeah it might be a technical hurdle but if it’s on their radar I hope it can become a reality eventually.

I love Lights Wrath. Hate Discipline on my Priest. I would be all for this!

My Unholy DK wants to use the Blood spec axes.

My Demo warlock wants to use the Affliction staves.

Also, again might be a technical hurdle, maybe also separate the off hand artifacts from the main one.

For example, using prot pally flail with a bulwark of azzinoth.

Dont forget to let us out illuisons on them as well ans guns and bows and crossvows for hunters.

Yes please!! I might try out BM on my Hunter if she could transmog to a bow that included a quiver, and currently the MM artifact weapon is the only bow in the game that includes one.

Let your voices be heard. Perhaps Blizzard will take notice of this and other similar threads and make the change!

That’s another technical hurdle they need to over come but yes!
