So you have all abilities unlocked on your azerite gear. Congrats!
I do not pity that grind for 4 more levels. Easily over 100,000 AP required.
Fortunately those 4 more levels aren’t needed, as they grant no additional azerite traits!
Because they need those MAU’s to report to the stockholders. Err, sorry, Ion said they never use those words. Lemme rephrase: Because they design “Immersive Content” for the “Customers”.
This. 10000x. But read my first answer.
Also, I’m completely different from those people that complain about ilvl but only pick herbs and pet battle. If all I did were herb and pet battle, I’d be happy, because the only thing(s) required for being good at pet battling are catching the pets and doing pet battles.
I respect your opinion on that. But raiding has always been about doing more than just raid logging. You had to acquire consumables. Back in day you needed to grind rep for certain enchants. You need to farm dungeons for BiS trinkets and starting raid gear.
There’s always been an aspect to needing to do non-raids to maximize raiding.
That’s no different with. You can solely do raiding and slowly gain AP, but you can do non-raid stuff to maximize raiding power.
This only applies if you’re not going above heroic. And if you arent, who cares if you can’t get the +5 ilvls on mythic level gear? If you’re raiding mythic, at a minimum you’re going to have to farm herbs or gold for consumables.
I’m DOING those activities every single week. Other than maybe a 2 week stretch where I skipped emissaries because doing one more would have made me want to quit, I’ve done every single required chore and it’s still not enough to get the same traits that lower tier players have.
I’ve spent the last 2-3 weeks grinding to make up for that emissary gap I did to myself and right when I’m FINALLY caught back up I get gut punched with news that to go further it’s going to require 4x the grinding.
Blizzard could fix this easily without hurting anybody. All the casual players have their traits and gear so why would it matter if Mythic players got theirs “earlier”?
I don’t know why there are some people defending this garbage system.
It’s lame and boring to grind Azerite.
It was poorly thought out and designed. They made it seem like an extra ring was going to fix it all while simply doubling down and forging ahead with a bad idea.
If they would have had azerite power accumulate on all of your characters together… at launch it may have went a tiny bit better. Especially when it feels like they want you to level multiple alts. As of now I have three max level characters who can’t use half of their azerite abilities.
I’ll give you a minute to pull up the dungeon journal and look at the traits for the Mythic gear in case you want tot try this again.
I dont really see people defending it, so much as saying “its not nearly as big of a deal to get those extra 5 ilvls as you are saying it is”
There’s also always been a point where you stopped needing to do that, or where raiding still provided the rest of that stuff.
Even in most of legion, once you hit AP cap, that was it. I could buy herbs from blood vendor for pots/flasks, and I got more than enough blood from just raiding. I got enough gold from just raiding to afford the enchants, etc.
In previous xpacs I played, I’d get enough gold from raiding to afford pots/flasks/enchants without needing to do anything else.
To be frank, with the exception of early wow and the absolute latest parts of wow, you’re wrong. And guess which incarnations I hate the most.
Hi. I have mythic gear. Only the +5 ilvls is granted at 48. You get all rings in the 41-43 range. It might be 44.
Would you like to try this again?
You are complaining about +5 ilvls on 3 pieces of gear. Not azerite trait rings.
Sort of have to disagree here with you -
To maximize herb picking - you’d want a sky golem, which means you had to acquire gear which is tangential to herb picking. Is there also a glove enchant to pick faster? That’s also tangential.
As for pet battling, you can speed up pet battling by doing FB missions to get pet tokens so you can buy more max level tokens. Also, there’s pets that can only be aquired via islands, dungeons, raids, etc.
Once again, to maximize one thing (pet battles) you need to do more than that one thing (by raiding, dungeons, expos, mission boards, etc.).
No different from AP.
All about that ilvl mannnnn. That extra 5 ilvl is OP
No because all I’m missing out on is like one trait at level 44. After that it’s just the 5 ilvls which isnt that big of a deal to me.
I was unaware of the pet stuff, and I concede the sky golem. So basically, I’d be here complaining about those things, too, if that’s what I wanted to focus on.
I’ll just refer you to the end of my post…

That’s wrong and feels bad.
What neck level are you? For me, to get the +5 ilvls, it’s another 4 weeks away.
So it sounds like you’re not:
DOING those activities every single week.
This isn’t about the requirements to raid and extracurriculars required for that.
This is about the fact that there is something like a 100,000 AP difference between unlocking Trait A on a Normal piece and unlocking that same trait on a Mythic piece.
Mythic raiders don’t have access to more AP than casual players do so why does our gear require 10x the effort?
I’m fine farming AP and I’m even fine with higher tier armor requiring more but it doesn’t make sense for it to require 2-3 levels more and then have them cutoff the catchup before it’s going to be possible to get there.
