Which one do you think is more fun and better endgame? I love this warrior and will always have him as my main, but I’ve been dabbling with ret recently and the talent tree is very well thought out and enjoyable to progress through. Got to level 40 and been having a blast so far!
Is ret still as enjoyable in endgame? My main endgame content is normal raid and mythic+ I don’t really do PVP unless it’s super casual. Really considering making ret pally my main alt for season 2 instead of my monk and dh

It really comes down to taste IMHO; Like a properly kitted arms warrior is a god in M+ since we can spread bleeds all over the god damn place. And In ST there is a certain Joy to watching your Mortal Strike crits explode to over 200k.
That having been said, Ret pally’s are still viable I think; I haven’t seen that many but I’m given to understand the reworks made them more viable. Further in the timewalks (which should be taken with a grain of salt for various reasons) I’ve seen them pushing 3k overall where a lot of other DPS will have like 2.

Arms if you want to be a chad.
Ret if you want to be an overpowered whiner.

People are whining that ret is too strong, so they’re gonna get dunked on by the ban hammer again because god forbid ret is good at all.
Arms is safer.

Ret got buffed into god mode, which means it’ll get nerfed into the dirt, it’s how it always is with Pallies, feast or famine.
If you play a Pally then enjoy it while you can, I frankly do not play Ret much at all, I heal or tank only.
Warrior is a game pillar, it’ll always be a good choice.
My answer is to stick with your main but play the Pally while it’s FOTM, maybe it’ll stay OP a minute, but I doubt it, the anti-ret uproar has been quite something.

arms war has been consistently terrible to play since vanilla in pve.
Ret has been nerfed several times now. People will post “overall damage” as some kind of proof that Ret is severely broken, but Overall damage has never been a good statistic because it’s inflated with cleave damage. In PvP, it only does well where you can pick on someone who is undergeared, displays poor usage of trinket or defensives, teams that won’t cleanse HoJ or if you get an incredibly lucky double Final Verdict crit.
Arms is the more consistent and steady pick right now. Despite the Ret rework, Blizzard failed to remove the main issue that Ret had–aura tracking.
Currently, if you’re playijg Ret, you’re keeping mental space reserved for your Blessing of Dusk/Dawn counter, Art of War resets, Templar Combo, Execution Sentence or Final Reckoning damage window, and Avenging Wrath
You have to track all of these things to play at max efficiency because Dusk/Dawn is a damage multipler, Final Reckoning is a multiplier, and Avenging Wrath is a multiplier. You want all of these Auras/CDs to line up with one another, and, if you’re playing Execution Sentence instead, you need to make sure all of CDs are ready for use before pressing ES. If AW or Wake of Ashes are down and you’ve talented ES, it’s simply not worth pressing in most cases because it’s damage is so much greater with those abilities applied to the DPS window of ES.
All of this is on top of managing Holy Power, which, you mostly will find yourself overfilling and having too much of if you can’t get it in your head you need to spend it. The talent for 4HP spenders helps this issue a lot, but you will sometimes get into a rut where everything is on CD and you’re just not getting Blade of Wrath resets.

I’ve never liked non-hybrid classes as the ability to switch to a healer or tank on demand is too great.
I would choose Ret Paladin, with a Protection OS. The ability to do all 3 is really, really valuable.

Unbiased opinion, arms warriors.

Arms if you only want to think about DPS.
Ret if you can manage more than most DPS and watch the group and support accordingly with HoF, Sac, Lay on hands, Offheals, BoP, Cleanse …
It requires extensive dungeon and class knowledge to know what you can debuff, where a sac is needed or an offheal might be useful right now.
In order to put out high performance DPS + high performance support as a ret is a high ceiling which can be something you want to strife for but difficult to manage. The reward is satisfaction most DPS cant match in the slightest. If you only want to be absolute top dog DPS no matter how braindead it is other classes (or arms) are favourable.

Literally the battle I’m facing currently. Both classes are extremely fun, all I can say is get the pally leveled up and geared up before 10.1 goes live as it’s extremely easy to level and gear atm. Both classes do very well in PVP, even when ret gets the ban hammer it’s still extremely viable imo.
Personally, I love the support aspect of ret compared to arms. Its extremely nice to throw out clutch heals and the utility is extensive. You could be the glue that keeps a below average group from wiping.

Arms makes the most impactful and satisfying combat sounds in the game.
Ret makes a series of bells, chimes and loony-toons anvil-drop sound effects.

This.
And Warrior has 2 DPS specs, so odds are one will always be good.
If and when Ret eats the big one it’s game over for Pally DPS…again.

Any other spec at the top? people grumble but carry on with their day.
Rets at the top? people riot in the street.

I said it in another thread that ret has been strong like 3 or 4 times in the game’s history. Feel bad for die hard rets.

i dunno about in endgame, but i’ve always enjoyed ret more than arms. simply because i like it’s 1-2-3 punch-playstyle. also, it has range (okay, it’s not much range, but still!) and lets you go super-saiyan for a few seconds, what’s not to love?

If you want to play a class that blizzard makes sure to NOT break, play the Warrior. Some of their beloved streamers play warrior so they make sure they’re happy for that sweet free promotion.

As a ret main who have tried to move to arms multiple times, I will say for me it was convenience of combat. With ret you just go at it, even at range there is already an attack to press. The AoE is simple. Arms was always too busy for me. Like you need to activate activate sweeping strike for AoE, instead of just pressing AoE ability. You have to manage Colossus Smash window. There’s harder penalty for ruining your position, because you can’t do anything at range, charge is limited and you can be frozen in place. Plus I couldn’t bear the fact that I couldn’t directly support or off heal my allies.
But there are also things I’m really envious of arms. For example, the sustain pressure. Arms abilities hit hard, they don’t rely on cooldowns as much. All the offensive tools like mortal strike, or AoE fear, spell reflect seem super cool. Community perception of warriors is generally positive as well, they’re usually part of meta.

There is definitely a lot to manage in Arms, but I got burnt out of Fury recently, so I’m trying something new.
