Arms warrior or balance Druid hybrid

Thinking about rolling an arms/fury war or a hybrid Druid of balance/resto on classic.

Any thoughts? This will likely be a stand alone venture… I say this because of the “warriors are cancer to level” stigma

Oh no, again with the Warrior leveling stigma. Seriously, it is NOT that bad. Use first aid, watch your pulls, avoid enemy spriests & frost mages like the plague, and you should be just fine. We hit like a truck, have a whole mess of armor, and get noticeably better with each new piece of gear. I’d give Warrior a try if you haven’t already. The only appreciable downside to them imo is how damn slow they are until level 40.

Oomkins are worse to level. You will be begging for water and Oom after every 2 mobs. No one will want you in groups. Oomkin is the worst of the meme specs. stay away from it.

Warriors get fast at level 40?

30-40 isn’t even that bad if you can get someone higher level to help you kill the trolls and elemental at the end of the Whirlwind quest. Or you can just grind out ten levels running SM over and over easy to do for a warrior.

Respec for sweeping strikes at 30 for SM?

I had thought about a shadow priest as well… just like the Druid I’d be will to tank/heal dungeons, but ultimately at 60 I want to dps.

Moonkin druid. level balance resto to 60 with all your sanity remaining and i will buy you a present .

I don’t think it’s THAT bad… it’s just a true hybrid. Starfire - moonfire - insect swarm - Bearform is an easy pull and you don’t really go oom grinding like that… it’s just like a priest wand spec leveling. Do some hard casts to pull and then auto attack to finish and save mana.

im kinda in the same boat myself but im trying to decide between a warrior or rogue. its rough i love playing both and i know both are slow lvling but fun as hell in pvp.

I’m not sure what you would be respecing from just level arms. You can tank as arms up to BRD so might as well quest as that.

Make a heroic strike cancel macro and duel wield to level, it gets rid of the 25% hit penalty on offhand when you have HS queued and then you cancel it before your main hand swings

Normally I’ve leveled 2h fury to 40 and then switched to arms, but lately I’ve heard people are switching earlier for SS.

I’ve never heard of this before, please elaborate how it gets rid of the offhand miss chance…?

Any question with the words “Balance Druid” in it is pretty much always a no. Not to say that there are not some good talents in Balance … but those are used to compliment OTHER talent builds. For example Natural Weapons and Natural Shapeshifter for Feral druids. Just don’t go Moonkin. Really. It’s not worth it. You’ll just end up mocking yourself.

For Druids, the general consensus is either to go with a full Feral spec (14/32/5) or Feral/Resto hybrid (0/30/21). The latter is especially popular as it allows Druids to switch from bear offtank to raid healing quickly just by switching gear once their tanked add is dead.

As for warriors … I can’t speak for right now as I’m not playing one, but I did play one until late 50s in Vanilla and can positively say that warriors are pretty damn amazing in later levels.

Note: The thing about warriors is that they are extremely gear dependent. Which means that with bad gear, they’re pretty bad, but with good gear, they’ll outshine everyone else. It’s no surprise that raid fury dps warriors outscore everyone else noticeably. If it weren’t for the fact that I want to try classes I didn’t play back in Vanilla, I’d totally have no problems playing a warrior again. But this time, I’m going Feral druid instead.

Feral is faceroll to level and you can keep some int/spirit gear around and heal to mix it up. I have more fun with an arms warrior alt personally but it’s still sub 30, like 28ish. I always hated warriors in the past which makes today weird.

I don’t know what your server is like but at 60 mine seems to mostly be looking for ranged dps that aren’t hunters. If you want to raid or farm 5 mans as boomkin I recommend looking for a guild, make friends early, or wait until BGs come out when you can be an annoying pest, because memespec stigmas.

Warriors are fun to level. I did it in Vanilla using wpn/shield 100% (my preference) & a hodgepodge of talents suitable for leveling, & I’m doing it again in Classic. Sure, you have to be more alert to your surroundings, have healing potions on-hand for the occasional sideways moments, & be more strategic to your soloing approach in general, but it’s fun IMO. As long as your have halfway decent green gear & keep your green weapon updated every 4-5 levels, it’s pretty easy to take on 2 yellows at a time if you need to (without a healing potion), & blow through single yellows without missing a beat. Orange mobs can give you a beating but they are also doable without a healing potion. But, if you want face-roll easy leveling/questing without any real risk then roll a Hunter.

My highest toon on Classic is a 38 hybrid resto/balance Druid. My soloing generally consists of 2 Moonfires & 2 Insect swarms on a single yellow mob while I melee auto-attack in humanoid form (not worth shifting IMO) - so 20-22 sec kill times. Keep Thorns buff up - it’s also your best friend. You are essentially a 4 way DoT (Moonfire, Insect Swarm, Thorns & auto-attack) Toss on a renew & keep on going. Pretty much no downtime between pulls. It’s also pretty easy to take out multiple yellows if you need to, or take down oranges. I enjoy playing her & it’s easy to escape with a Druid if you need to. The cat stealthing is also handy for certain situations.

I was never planning on moonkin form. Plan was insect swarm, feral charge and the rest in balance

Still not ideal by any stretch whatsoever. If you want to DPS, do so in Cat form where you never have to worry about mana whatsoever and who’s build tends to make you great at bear tanking also. I’d say Balance might be good for PVP, maybe, but not otherwise.

There isnt really any “hybrid” with warrior.

You are going 31 deep in either arms/fury/prot or playing a crippled class.

You get your mount at level 40, so long as you’ve been saving up for it.

Stop. Just stop.
