Arms warrior buff (where's it at?)

I think you might be confused or lost, friend. See, this is the Season of Discovery forums - not Era.

There is no excuse for keeping a spec bad for the sake of “it’s a leveling/PvP spec” when the purpose of SoD is primarily to introduce new metas via balance.

In a world with Mage Healers and Rogue Tanks, there’s no reason why Arms can’t be enjoyed in raids. Especially given that from Cataclysm to current retail they have been one of the top performing specs and enjoyable to play.

Arms is the definitive way to play Warrior for a lot of brown enjoyers (kek) and I believe there’s room in the 2H enjoyer category for big, sweaty men swinging heavy swords and maces.

Buff Rend, make it spreadable with T Clap. Add Bladestorm and a CD to apply deep wounds to everything hit by your next WW. Make Mortal Strike a HEAVY hitter and provide a proc for resetting MS. Colossus Smash as a 30 second armor breaking hit. Improve Sweeping Strikes, go with a later version of it.

Arms is THE true zug-zug class. Everyone that has played some version of it past WoTLK knows that it’s the manliest spec in the game.

If Rets get to live their dream in SoD, please give Warriors the spin2win hulk smasher.

arms is traditionally a pvp spec dude :expressionless: it would be silly if arms was competitive with fury in pve raid dps

Then make it better for PvP then? Either way this argument holds no water in SOD.

I agree with that, yes :expressionless:

Ah yes good old traditional season of discovery. Where all spec and classes are meant to be the exact same as vanilla

they’re meant to have a basis in vanilla, yes :expressionless: and there’s really no good reason to make arms a PvE spec. fury does the job just fine

I know right, I love playing my Warlock tank in Vanilla!

warlock tanking in SoD is pretty dumb but it does have a basis in vanilla :expressionless: if you ever did AQ40 you’d know that

Rogue tank even better

And I could say that for an other class’s that have more the 1 spec that do good PVE damage

I think you are reaching here. There is 0 support for Warlock tanks in Vanilla. You should never be using one over a Warrior either, that’s silly.

My point is, SoD is the version of Vanilla with new and improved specs. Arcane Mages can be healers, but Arms Warriors can’t be raid DPS? Silly.

Is ret a pve or pvp spec? Is boomkin a pve or pvp spec? Spriest? They’re all way better than Arms at PVP so Arms should be doing more dmg than them in raid right? Why does Arms needs a 50% dps boost to catch Rets then?

There are no PVP specs in WoW. There are PVE and PVP talents. Every tree has both. In Wotlk, Fire mage is #1 pve dps and also a popular gladiator spec. The talents were slightly different but the tree is the same.

Fury has PVP talents and Arms has PVP talents. Wotlk fury has heroic fury(pvp talent), and arms has blood frenzy(pve talent) for example. Currently in Cata Sub rogue is good in PVE.

Over time the community found that certain talent trees would have better or more useful PVE or PVP talents and adjust accordingly but you’d see it change every xpac. Like for hunter, the BM/Marks/Survival would shift around every xpac for what was a little better at PVE or a little better at PVP.

For warrior, fury is a fast attack spec that often relies heavily on raid rage gains in classic, tbc, and wotlk and as a result was just always useless in PVP, despite having PVP talents, so warriors would default to the only playable spec. Sometimes arms was good in pvp other times it wasnt. Its not a “PVP spec” though because no class in the game as a PVP or PVE spec.

If Arms was amazing in pvp and it cost pve talents to achieve that, reducing raid damage, then its just the balance of the pros and cons of your talent choices. But as it stands, Arms is just dead. F- in PVP and F- in PVE. Its just weak. It does no damage, low utility, and dies easily. Its a tuning problem.

Solution is buff arms in PvP :expressionless: increase mortal strike damage until it’s scary again.

Def agree thst the fact that 2h fury is a stronger 2h spec then arms , the 2h warrior spec, is hilarious and the fact blizzard hasnt acknowledged this/done something to fix it for next phase is sad for any warriors who would like to play arms without trolling their teams

Well the Classic team is clueless on how to balance certain specs, it doesn’t help when Era players come to the SoD forums making dumb, counter-productive comments like:

“Hurr durr PVP spec play 2H fury”

Yeah… nobody is going to play 2H Fury. The warriors that want to play 2H want an Arms rework.

The entire reason we got SoD was to play Classic with “leveling” and “PvP” meme specs.

Arms is hella fun to play in Cata, just take some mild inspiration, you don’t even need to normalize rage gen to make it work.

Arms and 2H Fury play exactly the same. The only difference is Fury gets Death Wish and Flurry.

Arms being viable would be fun. Needs 50% overall dmg boost to catch a ret in a raid environment so it feels like they just abandoned the spec so they can make sure hunters have 4 different viable ways to play the game…

It would be cool for Arms to be a viable spec as well, yeah. But it would take a complete rune rework to get it there. Warrior already has 2 viable DPS specs right now with Dual Wield Fury and 2H Fury (they play differently and have different ability priorities) with 2H Fury even having 2 sub-specs since you can choose to go TfB/Rend rune or Endless Rage/RB, both which play differently. I’d prefer the devs focus on getting these specs that are already in place and viable into a better position before we focus on buffing up a tree that was never good to begin with, especially when there’s no real gameplay difference between the talents.

It wouldnt take a whole rework. Just give a buff to mortal strike. If it gave personal armor pen like BRE it would help alot in PVP and in later raids when bosses have more armor.
