Hey Blizzard, Will you be updating the texture resolutions for older armors from Vanilla, BC, etc. when BFA releases?

sounds good, I wouldn't expect too much though, they cant even fix the forum post history02/20/2018 01:03 AMPosted by ViandrelleHey Blizzard, Will you be updating the texture resolutions for older armors from Vanilla, BC, etc. when BFA releases?
Not directly. What it seems they prefer to do is release newer versions that you can acquire. See, e.g., Tier 20, which was essentially a high-def revamp of T6.

This would be better than potentially botching the originals. However, I wish they'd just do it as a Quality Consistency update and throw the new HD models into your Transmog Collection if you already have the original version of the items. That way, if they botch it somehow, people can still use their old stuff, but the majority has stuff where you can't sit and count all 7 pixels in the collar of the shirt.
In my ideal world they throw it on a smallish team as a long-term project. Maybe they only have time to update 1 set a month or so. That's totally fine. Just so eventually the quality of armor is consistent with the quality of our models and pretty much any post-Wrath gear. Some of the old "slutmog" people love is especially terrible right now - notably the 'Glorious' set and its recolors being terribly stretched. Tons of stuff needs an upgrade though, not just the slutmog.
Id say the majority of Vanilla - BC non-raid armor needs updating. The raid stuff too but its clear they put a bit more effort into those sets. Wrath feels kinda inbetween on quality so it could wait if needed, but there's definitely room for an upgrade still, even on tier.
I remember Ion saying in an interview (not sure when) that they would rather make new versions similar to the old ones. TBH though I have not really liked many of the updated versions so maybe it is better they dont. The new lightbringer set is nowhere near as nice as the original. They tried to overdo it.

Even if they prefer to make all new sets, I would think updating old gear would be easier than make new models from scratch. I could see them updating the old stuff now for the launch of BFA and adding new models later.
Then again, I am not a game designer so I could be wrong.

they said at Blizzcon that focus on one area, does not affect progress on another.
And it makes sense, you don't have a Character modeler so they can do Website maintenance.
what ever issue that is going on with the website is likely being looked into by someone. The only reason it has not been corrected is because its an unknown bug in the code or its intentional. o-o
^ that. They're not broken. Don't "fix" them. They'll only ruin things people like.02/20/2018 01:14 AMPosted by GhrelnI remember Ion saying in an interview (not sure when) that they would rather make new versions similar to the old ones. Agreed...like pretty much every dungeon downgrade they've done.
I just want missing belts and boots to be added to the loot tables of their respective raids. I also want LFR Dragon Soul to actually drop loot.

Yes, adding the missing set pieces for some armor sets would be amazing. But I'm not holding my breath. :(
I don't recall them ever having done this before, so don't expect it. Look how long it took for them to acknowledge that people actually enjoy Classic enough to make a set of servers for it.02/20/2018 01:03 AMPosted by ViandrelleHey Blizzard, Will you be updating the texture resolutions for older armors from Vanilla, BC, etc. when BFA releases?

Well supposedly, but last I heard they weren't even in the development stage let alone an alpha.
But with the upgrade to alot of old NPC/Creature models It would be sensible to think they would also touch up on the armor/weapons too.

Personally, I would love to see an update on some of these sets. I feel like they already tweaked some of the textures on some sets during WoD. Regardless some of the sets can be made new like they did from t6 to t20.
I doubt it, but I hope so. There’s some decent older armor pieces that are so poorly pixelated…it would be nice for them to at least touch them up.
Holy Necro, Batman!
The necromancy is powerful with this one.
