Armor Sets Lore

Lore wise, are heritage armors given to certain class of people amongst races? For example, all the heritage armor ingame right now I rarely see any npc wearing them. Is there any reason why only player characters have the option to getting them but no npc wears them?

Seems to vary. The Void Elves seem to put the most significance in the heritage armor set. The rest appear to be establishing that it’s pretty standard equipment.

Return to the void rift so that we may honor your accomplishments.
Let this armor remind you of all you have achieved, $p. Accept it with my thanks.

Come, meet with me at the Vindicaar. It is time that we reward your diligence.
Wear these vestments with pride, $p. The Army of the Light will always be honored to count you in its ranks.

Return to Suramar so that we may thank you for helping our people reclaim a place in this world.
I present you with the traditional garb of Suramar. Wear it as a reminder of our ancient past… and the new future we will forge alongside our allies.

Now Thunder Totem calls you home. It is time we thank you for all that you have done for us.
It is my honor to present you with the armor of our people. No matter where your journey takes you, it will serve as a reminder of where you came from.

The thing is though, very few npcs are wearing heritage armor sets outside some island expedition npc groups, but I can understand why island expedition teams are wearing it, mainly because they are the “best of the best.”

Putting too much thought into it I think. The heritage armor sets were designed entirely new to be an in game reward. So the art assets weren’t used by NPC’s that predate the release of the Allied races. Plus, as a player reward, they probably didn’t want alot of NPC’s wearing them to maintain an air of exclusivity.

Actually, quite a lot of NPCs are wearing Heritage Armor. Shadowforge Soldiers, Shal’dorei Guards, Mag’har Grunts, and probably a few others I’m missing.

It varies. Don’t put too much thought into it, there’s nothing there.

From what I’ve seen of the heritage armor stuff planned for races in 8.1, while the allied race armor isn’t really too significant (beyond giving the allied races some sets that fit their themes), the heritage armor for normal races is going to be much more important lorewise. The dwarven one seems to be the entire focus of the quest chain, as in the goal is to make said armor, as opposed to it being a reward for something related.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Nightbourne NPC’s wearing the heritage armor or somethign close to it.
