would be cool as
I’m really digging the grimtotem look.
One thing I really like about ESO, an MMO I regularly play when taking a break from WoW, is the armor dying, and honestly the limited number of gear styles. They add new motifs with expansions and DLCs. It’s a newer game, and it’ll get bloated eventually, but for now its really clean.
I think the issue with WoW and why we will never get armor dying, is just the sheer amount of gear in the game, just way too much. For so long there were entirely new styles for each class for each raid tear, for each zone, for each PVP season, and there is just so much. Adding in different colors for them all would be a massive project.
Also, I think this leads to the reason why in ESO often when you port into a city all you see is black shapes running around while your system slowly gathers all the information of all the unique characters. That’s the downside to really detailed character customization.
This is a good point too. As much as I love the armor dying in ESO, it does spoil it some when you see someone run past in neon green plate or bright pink, or just a hodgepodge of weird contrasting colors.
They said, “No”, on armor dyes.
Short answer: They’d have to rebuild how textures are done, as well as old textures, to allow dying areas of the texture. If they allowed it on some stuff, players would want them to allow it for everything. They already allow lots of color variations, on different level raid gear for example.
It also kind of ruins the look of the game, with people putting horrible colors on gear they don’t really work with.
Also, that post really isn’t asking for “dyes.” It is just asking for several different recolors of heritage armor. Calling it “Armor Dyes”, confuses it.
Blizzard actually wants the “Heritage” armor to only be one look, it is the only “heritage” for that race.
I call it color dyes as it would essentially be the same as the shaders in destiny. Which was one of my favorite things about the game. So they can start with the heritage armor if anything. Or just specific sets and start the system that way.

Those look really good, esp. the black with red. Maybe they’ll do that so we can change the colour of all our mogs.
That’d be nice.
Looks cool, but I doubt itll happen. Currently different colors of armor are rewarded for different difficulties of raids. Also there was another thread on dying armor in wow, something to do with how they texture the armor or something?
I haven’t seen it a link would be nice to see it
