What kind of laziness is it to not do a balance patch even though you’re losing after taking 9-11 million damage from an Arcane Mage in 0.1 seconds?
What the hell is going on with the PvP balance patch on the main server for 2 weeks? I get that they’re busy with things like Pandaria Classic to make money, but they should do it in moderation. They’re really incompetent. I’m not asking for 100% perfect balance. They’ve never done it perfectly in the first place, and I don’t expect them to. They should just find a certain level of balance.
If I had to wager a guess, they didn’t do one last weekend since it was Labor Day weekend and people are starting to get their full tier sets so they probably wanted more time to compile data for more accurate tuning overall.
Outliers like arcane mage and some others will surely get adjusted this Friday. And if not, this Monday. If they don’t, I’d be very surprised.
we found that ret paladin was sometimes able to lose an arena match. New talent “Gladiator”, after any death in PvP the ret pally receives a 5% damage and healing buff until their next victory.
Honestly, it’s all the damn modifiers in abilities. I’ll take arcane barrage as an example, it goes from a simple baseline of 300k or something, then gets blown up to something between 10x and 30x because of modifiers.
50% here, 130% here, another 100%, here. Aside from being one of the more difficult specs to line burst up, but when it does, it is stupid.
Same thing with ret paladins - got dropped from 90% of my hp to low teens, and he wasn’t even melee ranged.
Ah well. Also, I was surprised how quickly affliction locks can rot away your health bar.
I want tuning changes just as much as the next guy, but ultimately balance is pretty hard to iron out, especially with variances in the gearing process, tier, comps, pve changes, etc.
I think it really should take a couple weeks in between tuning to see how things play out to collect data.
What’s frustrating to me is the repeated radio silence and complete lack of communication.
Part of it is the WoW base will complain no matter what and attack the messenger. That’s on us.
The other part is I think it would really show how clueless they are to their own PvP mini game. It would probably make their dev team a lot happier if it didn’t exist unfortunately.
Exactly like if they are not going to listen disable the PTR realms ffs Blows my mind that they say they want player feedback but ignore everything thats said.
It’s objectively easier to balance 6 choice talent nodes instead of 60+ talents.
There’s not even a debate here.
There’s not a case of “can’t please everyone”
It’s that Blizz once again listened only to the loudest minority of classic fanboys who wanted a terrible feature back that was omitted for good reason when the game was actually progressing until World of Grimdfest happened with Legion, BfA and SL where we had to GRIND for talent trees.
The talent tree feature is completely incompatible with the modern 40+ specs and that’s a big reason why tuning takes forever.
Unnecessary complexity with 10x as many variables.
The modifiers in the abilities are a huge problem for tuning I’d imagine. But remember, they also have to tune and balance PvP specific changes to these modifiers too. It’s got to be a total sloppy mess behind the curtain.
This is a terrible thought process. Development should be iterative anyways. Any changes they make can’t be fully regression tested in PvP anyways so they should be smashing the major outliers at least…like arcane 1 shotting everyone quite literally.
Ret needs major adjustments.
Rogue needs buffs (can’t believe I’m saying that), but sub gets outparsed by blood dks.
They could have nerfed tier sets 1-2 weeks later.
Plus most PvPers don’t have 4 set for 2 weeks because gearing is trash and requires PvE to get 4 set 2 weeks earlier.
