Arenas Without PVE Gear in Season 6

Is it going to be possible to push ratings in S6 using only PVP gear? I don’t raid. I got to about 1700 with savage (hit 80 late)/titansteel destroyer but kind of ended getting wrecked by KT25 weapons. Just looked at my BIS set for S6, all offpieces (bracers, neck, belt, boots) are from 25 Ulduar ilvl 252 and the waepon is the 252 furious one. Is that weapon even going to be possible to get without first having raid gear?

Probably not, unless you’re a spec that stacks resil like Resto Shaman, Moonkin, etc

Get yourself into a GDKP. You’re going to be stuck at or below 1800 without PvE items.

I suppose one upside of this is that you’ll be able to get the weapon after the season ends and before the next season starts, so you’re on equal footing with everyone else at the beginning of next season!

Yea this is the season I probably bench my alts. 200 vs 213 was one thing, but now with hard mode gear going up in the 250s it feels like a lost cause… alt pugging experience will be way worse without a faceroll naxx.

you can absolutely get high ratings if youre good with just pvp gear.

here lies the problem though…

you think having pve gear is gonna get you glad? lol. may i present to you hard stuck 1400 warriors with betrayer

Was it like this in original WotLK? Honest question, I got into it very late and only started doing arenas in Cata.

nope i specifically remember in OG glad being 2.2k on rogue and disc with ONLY pvp gear. in fact a ton of people didnt partake in any of the raids.

Yes, 100%. Optimal? No. Atleast not for the majority of specs.

Most classes no, but ele shams can run 100% pvp and do extremely well, at least last season. Same goes for warlocks, though they definitely want haste and hit from a few pve items

just speaking for rsham, nothing really jumps out besides Living Ice Crystals and of course valanyr

im sure that soon every paladin past 1200 will have valanyr

Not sure if the proc buff is purgeable, if it is that is very powerful as an extra cover buff.

If you’re a melee i would get your bis weps however possible. come to an agreement with guildie competitors or something

i do disagree with the dk saying you wont break 1800 without pve loot. kind of dramatic (yes it is nice to have of course)

Totally depends on class. Are you a Rogue or a Mage? If so, id PUG and get some PvE pieces, rings/trinkets/weaps/etc.

WOTLK arenas are just overall bad…just wait for MOP/cata.

if you’re doing wrath arena and you both care about your rating AND don’t want to do PvE then you need to pick one of the classes that need a ton of resil to survive cause you’ll be stacking PvP gear anyway.

even then you’ll be at a disadvantage, but not so bad that you can’t win in 3s/5s.

if youre feral, hunter, mage (haste?) maybe some other classes you absolutely need PvE gear
if youre an rsham, ele, moonkin, etc… you can get away with full pvp

Look up the DK that told you you’ll be stuck at 1800 on ironforge.pro. Lmao

If you refuse to do raids, grab a nax weapon and maybe some goodies from heroic+, stay up to date on furious gear so you don’t get behind the curve, and worry more about your gameplay than your gear. You’ll hit 1800 to buy furious weapon.

Full furious isn’t optimal for most classes, but it won’t make the difference in like 95% of your games.
