Arena's tracking Cooldowns and defensives needs simplification

Not a new player but decided to come back do some healing learn a new spec etc. and honestly It is probably the most annoying thing to do is play arena. not because its an unfun game mode. Its a lot of fun I get 1800 every season. But Its too complicated. I recently tried to pick up WW monk, and despite being able to do a the dps rotation and knowing the major cooldowns of each class already I’m getting absolutely stomped. rather than having the ability to activate a Dr during a stun. I have to “track” their cooldowns, my Diminishing returns, my teammates things, in an attempt to figure out if I need to push a defensive and then hope I got it right. This just isn’t in mine, and probably many other players abilities. I don’t want to have to track 4 different Damage reductions, 2 cooldowns, and 2-3 CC abilities per class. That, In my opinion, should not be the game. Maybe track 1 of each? but with the current talent trees its just an unfun mess that involves tons of addons. I think PVP becomes way more approachable if you can either

A) allow all defensive to be activated in CC, while this reduces the skill ceiling and increases the skill floor and reduces the need for crazy tracking addons for those outside the most skilled who are trying to go to competition.

B) Give a reaction window for defensive use. allow defensives to be pushed up to .5 - 1 second after landing so reaction can be used. this would be similar to how platformers give you a grace period of a few frames to jump after you’ve technically “left the platform”

I get it I’m just a noob who whats to get the transmogs, but honestly I don’t think that having to do all that extra work for some classes and not others based on how they can use defensives is a good thing? I expect to be laughed at for this but it is what it is.

These would just ruin any competitive integrity that remains within PVP, there is a degree of skill that is required in a PVP game.

Also if you just want the transmogs, you don’t need to be playing like you’re in a blizzcon finals to get your 1800. You will face terrible players at that level, and can get by with overlaps and general bad gameplay for the most part.

Because in an MMO we are worried about competitive integrity? rather than the death of the game mode? I have classes I can play that have access to those things I stated, but i mean I don’t think any new person will care about “competitive Integrity” when they have a defensive can’t use it and will just say “game is bad”

You being unable to learn to press CDs to respond to what needs to be responded to is not a dying game mode.

If you’re going to lose a game because you didn’t pre wall a stun at 16-1800 you have bigger issues that need fixing in that game rather than the defensive. You win 95% of your games at that MMR because you simply press your damage better than the other team.

The healers role is just to play with their team and keep them up long enough to win, nothing fancy. You actually have to do nothing special to get 1800 rn if you just attempt to participate in the arena.

No, but long queue times, difficulty finding partners especially healers is. because Healing isn’t fun. For example I was healing a monk recently in solo shuffle Couldn’t prewall to save his life and wasn’t fun to heal. logged off after that game.

Although Honestly I don’t feel like debating. I just wanted to leave my idea and opinion here on why I think pvp is struggling and maybe it would get seen and give a dev an idea or something.

Well first, it’s called have friends that have the same goals as you and you don’t need to find others. Second, you didn’t lose the game because the monk couldn’t prewall.

what do you mean by this?

I agree there should be some changes to make the game more new player friendly. These suggestions you made are out of touch with reality tho.

Same way you kill a holy paladin? or a disc priest who has sup?

Like you allow a grace period where you have the ability to “react” and push a defensive. a small window but it allows people the chance to react

Maybe. except we have examples of classes that can do that already such as HPal, pain sup, barkskin, etc. So its already in the game i don’t understand how thats out of reality when it already exists. But if i’m wrong I’m wrong. I can only state my opinions.

edit: I’ve been known to like “bad” things. I like D4 afterall.

Hpal cant devo aura mastery while ccd. If they could then they are unkillable.

you aren’t killing through painsupp unless the disc uses it at low hp

a grace period from what?

painsupp is only usable while stunned. Not while in any other crowd control and its more a team healer cd than a personal defensive.

divine protection and barkskin arent major defensive cooldowns like astral shift or karma. These are not really on the same level at all.

He has this weird view that defensives solve everything at low crs, when in reality is he’d just win games if he did nothing but pump.

It’s whatever, but a weird mindset none the less.

Casual & lower end players need accessibility changes, not changing the whole defensive dynamics of hte game.

How would you propose to do that? I thought my solution would have worked but If you don’t guys don’t think so how would you fix it as I got no clue other than to lower the skill floor to be accessible.
