If getting templates back means that we can do away with PvP scaling, I’ll take them. Buy I have to say I strongly oppose both. And that templates are just a lesser of two evils.
thats an issue with bfa, not a lack of templates though
blizzard’s gear philosophy in legion + bfa are the issue here, not the lack of the bandaid they presented in legion
as far as i can tell, and from what theyve said, and the fact that mcforging and nzoth’s cheeto dust do not exist in shadowlands, with no ap grinding, their gear philosophy is completely different in shadowlands and we have barely seen the full system yet
All spec’s had a strong comp at the end of s7, maybe not some tank specs (which after fighting memphis for what felt like a million hours was probably a good thing)
I can’t say for certain every spec got an r1 title but i am confident most of them did. That is a good thing in my opinion.
Happy that you answered hope my response clarified the initial post
ah yes legion season 7, the patch where destruction warlocks could play with anything and succeed and very skilled rogue mage players dominated and sometimes you qd into a hunter team
In my opinion people argued against templates for two reasons.
1.) A genuine lack of understanding of how cookie cutter this game becomes past a certain rating when it comes to stats. People will find out what stat is best and use that, look at every high rated player on the ladder if you need proof you will struggle to find any 2 characters that are the same class with different stat prio’s. (with the exception of destro locks) .
2.) Just wanting to pub stomp people: Venruki had a quote that I think really stuck with the developers “Man i miss being able to go into BG’s and just destroy people”. Venruki can play wow 16 hours a day because it is his literal job, and for a handful of very vocal players they have more time they can invest in wow and don’t want people with less time to be able to keep up with them.
I think point 2 is the really key one here that people don’t want to admit, they like being able to out gear people and win because of that. My issue is that once you get to a certain point everyone has the gear and it just becomes an arms race that takes away from actually playing the part of the game we want to play.
wanting to go into bgs and destroy people is totally separate from the gearing system .
that’s a complaint with the stupid scaling system .
edit: so no ur actually just missing the main point that I dont want blizzard deciding my stats because legion literally proved they dont understand what to give the specs. Sorry that’s difficult for u
I am trying to make the point that blizzard is still deciding your stat’s for you. Every single warr past 2200 is max vers with haste as their secondary.
Yes you can “choose” to go the optimal stat’s but is that really a choice?
blizzard is still giving us gear from pvp that doesnt at all follow our stat priority, we have to go through a bunch of different dungeons to get optimized gear, how are you blatantly missing this?
just looking at magnus for example, the guy only has 3 pieces of pvp gear on because he reaches much better optimization through dungeons and raids. that is not blizzard deciding his best stats for him. not only that, im pretty sure nobody was stacking ANY versatility until this patch and the previous patch
WoD ilvl scaling system + vendors
Regular gearing system from literally every other expansion
Legion templates
BfA PvE mcforge/corruption/echo farming no vendor
Don’t take that as me saying templates are good, cause I don’t think they are. I think they suck.
I enjoyed templates at the time because I’m was so burnt out on farming specific pieces of gear in this game over and over again. I was just over it. I just wanted to play. If I hadn’t have felt that way and was still enthusiastic about participating in the content of this game, I wouldn’t have enjoyed templates at all.
I think the actual big point here is what Ryutiz said - our spec’s viability isn’t 100% decided by some meathead at Blizzard in a non-template expansion. If your spec generally sucks, there’s more diversity in the way it can be built to mitigate that suckage. Obviously once a good build is figured out, every single person in the entire game immediately swaps to that stat build, but that isn’t the point. If your spec sucks during a template season, then… it just sucks.
Versatility has been the best stat for a while, actually.
I think the point they are trying to make is that, at the end of the day, there will always be a “best stat” for your spec. And that if you aren’t using it, you are misplaying. So you have to use it to play optimally.
