Hi I was just wanting to hear everyone’s thoughts on arena builds this patch. Are we going for the full 4pc bonus, or just 2? Covenant and leggo combos?
Let’s hear what you’re thinking!
We will probably bang once we are scaled up, which will probably put the Nerco lego back on par with what it was. Twins seems pretty nice, with the additional cool down from the conduit upgrades, should align pretty close to burst when cast on a partner. I like the additional healing with the shadow mend legendary, curious to see how it boost off heals in bgs and arena.
Def wanna try out the 4pc to see how much dmg it does.
Depends on if the 4set hits cc’d targets since it’s an aoe ability now otherwise it won’t be good in all comps.
The damage would have to be fairly substantially for me to use the 4set over more hate/vers and I’m suspecting it be ok but not great. Can’t find anyone testing it snd it’s been nerfed/changed twice.
I’ll also only be running measured contemplation… have always loved it till forced into necro Lego.
I’m not familiar with an extra cooldown? Would you mind explaining please?
If you are using the twins and take the power unto others conduit, should get your PI and your void eruption close to within 15 seconds of each other I would think. Unless you are taking the Driven to madness.
Idk, is it me, or does SP tier sets look like dogsh*t for arena?
2 piece is actually kinda dope. Especially for night fae or people who run suicide build. U can do some narly sustain with talbadars
Do you have to cast mind flat/sear though or you get the 40% chance just from DP?
I do the devour and fae spirits for massive sanity. Or I just go surrender to madness for 100 percent increase. Cannons ahoy
So far, with only one leggo, your best bet is still Necro (even after nerf). Just a personal opinion.
However, Night Fae can work with 4 sets. Here’s my theory:
- Reduce CD on Voidform as much as you can with Night Fae ability and Leggo. Voidform is how we actually do damage and in Voidform you don’t even need to cast
- Put out as much DP as you can to proc Dark Thoughts - this requires you to generate tons of insanity, which you can from Night Fae guardians.
- Unload 4-Piece DoT damage onto double melee teams with instant Mind Blast.
I think the philosophy of any spriest build should be: 1) minimize times you have to cast to do damage and 2) enter Voidform and stay in Voidform as much as we can.
What would be really sick is for Devs to enable Dark Thoughts Procs from Mind Sear by the Eternal Call of the Void leggo.
if the tendril you proc from the leggo can also proc Dark Thoughts, then that leggo would be really OP. The way you would play is to just put Shadow Word: Pain up, then start juke-casting Mind Sear all game. Channel for a quarter of a second to do some damage and then cancel. Rinse and repeat. You can bait out kicks and proc the tendril, which will proc Dark Thoughts for you. That way, you don’t need to cast at all per se.
With all these MB’s going off, we’re not talking about switching to the leggo where your pet teleports behind them and does aoe damage, right?
I’m not in front of my computer so I forget what it’s called
I am new to Shadow, having done Skirms nonstop since the season started - how do you guys not get torn to pieces by mm hunters
My personal take below:
-
Always have a pillar to tuck behind. Just play around the pillar. Do what every good melee does against Affliction Warlocks - when the warlock goes ham, you just line.
-
CC MM on their burst. What kills you is Double Tap and True Shot. Trade Greater Fade, even Psychic Horror, Psychic Scream to CC MMs on their burst window. After that, the best they can do is just to hard cast Aim Shot on you. At that point, you just tuck behind pillar and put instant dots up.

Here is what I experienced against good MM hunters - they don’t really die to DOT classes like spriest or Aff locks because of the Feign Death leggo. Warriors don’t have the best luck against them either because they can actually kite really well with roots and permanent slow. The best strategy I can tell you against MM as a spriest player is to just live and dampen. Their teammates will die eventually but you have to just play really solid defense till that point. Pushing aggressively against MM hunters has not treated me well at least.
I tested the Shadowflame Prism leggo and it felt awful. For a few reasons below:
-
You have to play Mind Bender, which gives up Damnation. In arena, especially against double melee, it’s almost pivotal to have counter-go pressure going when the double melees are blowing everything on you off the gate. Damnation allows you to double dot both melee and with your first void form + PI, you can actually punish the melees when they train you hard at the start. Now, if you play Mindbender, you have to hard-cast at the start and rarely double melees will miss both kicks on you. As a result, you have 0 spread pressure going at the first exchange. By just having a Mindbender out, you won’t dent their health at all.
-
My second point here is in this meta, if you have to cast during your burst window, your class is prob not the most viable. To maximize the leggo, you have to cast Mind Blast. Yes, I get that you have instant Mind Blast proc and SW: Death but that’s just 2 abilities at most you can use without casting during the Mindbender window. After that you have to hard cast Mind Blast. And I highly doubt that any good teams with melee are going to allow you to do that. With Resto Shaman looking stronger too, you are most likely dealing with 2 kicks from the other side. It’s just going to be rough to get the damage out.
-
Last point, I also question whether you can use SW: Death during the Mindbender window when you are low on health from melee pressure. Obviously, you lose the same amount of the health as your damage. I don’t feel comfortable Death on someone when I am only 30% and in Execute range.
Disperse, fade, cc-do whatever you have to, to get through their burst. At least 50% of any mm’s you encounter are going to be FotM’s and won’t know what to do once you start fighting back.
Respect Aimed Shot the same way you would a chaos bolt.
