During the first 10 arena games of being on an arena team is “placement” games, just like retail, which I assume did not exist in actual TBC, after these 10 arena games, which you will most likely win every single one if you’re an okay player, you will then be pretty much higher mmr than any other player due to how fast your mmr is ramping up during these placement games, this seems like a very flawed system
its to help quickly get high skill players out of the lower pools. If you dont lose then yea of course it will shoot mmr high quickly.
it is a flawed system
The real question is what happens if you just disband your team and start another back at zero? You can’t currently see your mmr in this UI.
Chanimal was asked this on stream, and he didn’t know the answer either. But he’s def been dropping teams and starting fresh again and again, so maybe that means something.
the first 10 “placement games” will be vs players who are VERY low rated, no matter what, this also happens even if your teams rating is 2000 and you invite a new player to join, you will queue into 10 very low rated teams
Also, just as an example, multiple guild members of mine were queueing arena at about ~1800 rating/mmr, we make our fresh team, beat the ~1200 rated teams 10-0, then we are just only queueing into 2200 teams after 5 minute queues, at no point did we queue into those 1800 teams that were playing the entire time we were playing
MMR is terrible for the game.
But what is better than MMR? just rando’s queue’ing all against each other?
Similar to major league baseball teams going against Little League?
MMR is fine, what isn’t fine is 10 mandatory placement games that skyrocket your mmr every single time a new player joins your arena team and queues with you
play 9, disband your team, start over.
Farm noobs endlessly for arena points.
