Came back to the game recently. I don’t really ever post anything. I stopped playing in DF because arena just felt like it wasn’t fun to play anymore with all the micro cc. Seems somehow worse now.
The game just feels like you’re trading mobility cooldowns and cc half the time. I play melee, mainly warrior, except for in DF when I had to play DH (because game balance dictated that it was dumb to play warrior over DH for a period of time).
I mention that because I think most people are frustrated with the cc spam but it may feel even worse playing warrior so just clarifying my perspective a bit. But this isn’t a thread about warrior. It’s about PvP feeling fun.
The game just feels silly to play since DF. If I play against an Evoker, shaman, mage, my character feels like I’m in a bouncy castle. Then aside from the knockbacks it seems like almost every class has a 30s cd instant cast root which for some reason sometimes doesn’t always DR with other roots. Almost every class also has multiple forms of instant cast cc now and multiple stuns. Game feels like a I’m sitting in cc simulator. It’s just not enjoyable.
It also seems to make the games feel very random and unrewarding. Outplaying the other team seems to be more about having your team not accidently overlap all your cc spam. I should add I’m mostly just playing shuffle now because I cba to sit in LFG any more and no friends playing currently, so that’s probably adding to the low quality gameplay feeling.
Basically TL;DR is PvP gameplay feel since DF is pretty bad, imo.
So this has all been said before but I figured I’d make a +1 post complaining about the state of PvP since Blizzard says they read feedback here, although I very much doubt they do.
I’ll never understand this, because if you played vs MLD in MOP you’d know what true CC simulator is.
Also this. If you only play your warrior you’re going to have objectively awful matchups, but all those matchups can be 180ed if you just play with an ele & mw (and now suddenly you’re favoured vs everything).
The game has like 6 objectively best specs in the game. Everyone else is on par with everyone that isn’t those 6.
Should’ve mentioned I’m playing Arms to avoid all of the ‘Fury is OP!!! What are you on about???’ posts that would inevitably arise. But this post, like I said wasn’t really intended to go into ‘your class is x and you can do y’ arguments, but the overall feel of gameplay quality.
And yeah I didn’t play PvP in MOP, that was 12 years ago.
Also, Boomkin and Warlock are better matchups for a warrior, unless they’re playing with a mage. We can go back and forth all day about matchups but like I said, not really the point I was making.
Okay, so you still face the same issues than fury, but now you’re more reliant on your burst windows in stuns. Play with a MW and do the same thing every fury war does, it’ll improve your outlook on the game as a wohle.
And I mean we can have this arguement, and I’d still argue no boomy or warlock will ever want to q into a warrior right now because our answers are so limited and entirely reliant on their mistakes, rather than ours.
The point of those matchups is that you really don’t know unfun gameplay until you’ve played the other side of the coin. Even in the frost mage vs war matchup, the war always can find a way to win, they just have to know when to not get cocky, whereas other matchups, like boomy/lock vs warriors, your angle of winning is them throwing.
I mean anyone can find a way to win in any matchup, that’s why we play PvP.
It’s the gameplay feeling like garbage even when I win I have a problem with.
Whether in the arena or on the forums, I’ve always enjoyed the lock v warrior game. Sometimes one is stronger than the other, but the game still plays fun for me. Particularly in 2v2, where lock v warrior have been some of my most fun matches.
Agree with this, i dont mind the high damage/high healing aspect, but when combined with the insane amount of mobility classes have and how cc is only getting shorter/less impactful it feels bad. I also dont like how we have so many random passive defensive nodes everywhere in class trees and hero talents as well. It feels like CC mattering less is counter intuitive to high healing/high damage gameplay, especially if healers become harder to kill like they did this expac. Like I would’ve loved to go down a road where precog was removed while micro cc was also reduced (ie chaos nova, sundering, etc) because it acts as another form of interrupting that is unnecessary while at the same time regular cc nerfs were reverted.
This is the kind of stuff we’d probably have fixed assuming they can fix it separately from PvE via their PvP only tuning option if they had 4-5 people on a dev team for pvp. The fact we have heard in the recent past its been like 1 dude and a 1/2 is absurd. I guess the other problem is reducing mobility would probably get a lot of bad feedback from people and they’d just end up not going through with it lol.
