I’m just over the arena this season. trying to play with my former duelist rogue.
LITERALLY filled with glad alts, RBG heroes and other garbage littering the 1300 bracket…The 1300 bracket. All you see is “WTS Boost-coaching: Current Glad I’m so good w my 44k hp. I will press convoke for you and bring you to 1600-gold only”.
Aside from that people want you to have 220 lvl in a 1400 arena match. Never has the game been so utterly toxic. It’s disgusting right now and only getting worse as the days go on. Soon all you glad boosters will just be playing each other because nobody else wants to play in these garbage games. There is 0 fun to be had unless you are playing with other friends with the same skill level as you. I had those friends but they stopped playing because they hate the arena this season.
Impossible get gear better than 207 at 1400-1599 CR. What is wrong with people this season. How did blizzard ruin arena so bad? Skill doesn’t win games any more. Gear does. And before you go on with the whole git good garbage another toon climbed out of low mmr coming in late. He climbed out with friends and voice coms. I was duelist as well last season only 1850 this season so I’m not the best but certainly not the worst. Fact is all these sweaty boosting gate keepers are 2/3 games for every game you play. I would enjoy this season is if didn’t go on my rogue trying to climb in LFG on him. Ppen each game to see these neckbeards waiting to 2 shot my healer. You can make every play perfectly and still get bodied by a f dk ret ets. I’ve sapped a ret glad for them to trinket, I blind, they bubble and then what… I’ll tell you what. The healer is dead. Fun times
So hard to find a lower rating player that has any experience, they just don’t play or the get carried by friends who already have the gear. Its glad mains carrying glad alts and vice versa. Or glad mains selling boosts. Here is the solution. Scale everyone gear to the rating they are in if they are goingto drop rating and roflbubble the arenas sub 1400

ahhh a well known forum troll, welcome
If you reread you will notice I have experience this season and last. My complaint is a new alt climbing the ladder in lfg

I really like the solution of scalling the gear to actual rating. Boosters would be very mad with this

They brought full fledged gear progression back and tied it to rating.
They literally said, you want gear progression without any equalizing factor such as scaling or templates than fine have at it.
The fix to this problem there would have be have ONE gear set. Like only the honor/conquest gear set and have it be insantly 226 in bg/rated content. Outside of that it can be terrible, but in pvp it needs to be the best and easily acquirable. Pvp players don’t play pvp to get gear, they play pvp for the pvp. Which means give everyone the equal gear so its only skill that matters. Ilvl shouldn’t be tied to rating, every rating should have the same ilvl gear, even the 1400 players.

I like this. I’m in the camp that really liked templates in principle and I’m fairly positive BFA was an attempt at obfuscating templates with fake gear progression/stats.
They can probably allow the gear ilvl gaps to exist for world pvp or even random casual pvp but they have to stop this crap for rated pvp asap.
Ya, I’m around the 1600 mark, just started doing arenas this season been playing since 2004. Last night I literally got deleted by a double rogue team. Apparantly one of the rogues was this guy named pikaboo, he sapped me while I was stralthed, I feign deathed, with 90% dmg reduction and craven strategem, then turtled… and he still killed me in the opener.
My partner was a disc priest, we are both in 213gear… but got instantly deleted, match was less than 30secs.
Been stuck around the 1600 mark for months now, but I’m a sweat and refuse to give up.
Once this match was done, pikaboos rating was 2000… pretty sure he’s an awc glad…

Lol I was a Duelist last season!
That made me smile.
Yeah Blizz decided PvP needed an equivalent progression compared the PvE. We’ve had gear tied to ranks before but never as punishing as it currently is to casuals/alts.
I honestly believe they hold so much disdain for the PvP community that they came up with rating locked gear since we all crapped on this teams garbage scaling systems from Legion and BFA. Same reason we can’t have real WoD style PvP gear and instead have something even worse and more convoluted coming.

Yeah the sub 2k bracket is completely filled with glads, it’s a brutal arena season. Probably the worst I’ve ever played in, no one under 2k that plays a few hours after work wants to play against people who spend 6-7 hours a day playing. They need to make it like apex once you hit 2100, you only play against other 2100+ players.
Should honesty be account wide too, I don’t care about learning your alt if you play 6-7 hours a day learn in bgs and play against people of the same skill level. 90% of the wow population is under 1800 and they should be the priority not the 10% getting more mounts or more incentives. The game is way healthier if they just would perma ban streamers who boost and troll the sub 1800 players. Which completely destroys the integrity of ranked pvp system.

they just need to change gearing so peeps under 1600 don’t consider the entire system largely a waste of time
would push up the ladders, dilute the carries in the bottom half, and massively increase participation
anyways, just hopeful thinking as there are no real changes coming thus far in 9.1, I really think pvp benefits immensely if everyone has access to BIS pvp gear after a reasonable grind that speeds up as the season progresses

This season has many compounding things working against a healthy ladder. I’m not sure what it’ll take to fix things, since it’s not one issue that’s causing the problems. Boosting, gear power disparity, algorithm-based rating deflation, length of season, player retention, slow conquest acquisition, etc., are all intersecting and adding to this mess of a season.
I’ve given up trying to climb, for the most part. The sense of progression from, say, 1600-1800, 1800-2k, 2k-2.2k and so on has been lost.
I’m not sure if gear scaling is the solution to all of our problems, but the current system isn’t working. Unfortunately, the proposed fixes in 9.1 aren’t looking much better. And with the recent Torghast changes, I can’t help but be pessimistic about Blizzard’s design philosophy. Very few things this expansion have been designed with fun in mind.

“dead and full” contradict themselves.
I think you mean they contradict each other. Let’s not be pedantic. You know what the poster meant.
Yea, he’s just parroting what every other bad player is saying over and over on these forums.

Those “bad players,” who I suspect you’ll conveniently define as anyone under your rating, make or break the health of games. You can’t have a thriving PvP scene without them.

no there’s definitely players lower CR than me who I will quickly concede are better than me.
Bad players are players who make excuses for their own faults by blaming everything but themselves and have no drive to better themselves. Those are bad players, and they deserve to be stuck low until they grow up and learn to stop blaming everything.
It’s just a game buddy. And as others have said. Without them you have no game.
Are you advocating for this game to die? Because that’s where this is going if people keep telling newer players to go fly a kite. WoW isn’t as great as you think it is.
I see you are a PvE edgelord who probably enjoys gear over skill in PvP anyways which is why you are loving this season.
If things ever even up, this will drop you back to where you belong. “Bad player”

please highlight where I said that.
You can’t, because I never did. New players should all aspire to become better and I frequently even help newer/less experienced players. Yes, it’s discouraging - I’ve been there, I’ve done that. So has everyone else who queues, regardless of if they’re higher than me or not; but if you don’t seek to get better and just blame everything else, you’re unable to be helped.
Huh?
Huh? First of all, outside of Legion, gear has always mattered in PVP. Second, PVE gear in PVP is terrible. Third, I play entirely specs in raid and pvp - ele for raid, resto for arena. Fourth, having fun with a group of friends and killing dragons has nothing to do with my pvp career lmao
Define even up? You mean eliminate gear requirements like in Legion?
I was higher on my DH in Legion than I am on my Shaman, my now-dedicated main.
Do you know why? Because I’m constantly seeking to improve myself. Yea, sometimes I play like absolute dogwater and stop queueing. That sucks, but I pick myself up and queue again another day, and start climbing again.
Stop making excuses and better yourself, or get mad at those who did. Your choice, I could really care less what you do.
