While blizzard strives to make the game more compatible with those that game casually, I find with the current state of arena being very challenging in the aspect of pushing rating. I desire to see new players being able to fit in and not be forever stuck at low rating that does not match their skill level. While this post is in no way aimed at making the spells easier or classes OP nor is this to talk how bad players are. This post is aimed for fixing exploits and those that break TOS in helping others getting their desired rating that they do not deserve for gold and real money.
I have hit Glad this season and wanted to share my experience on what I noticed. As soon as we surpassed 2k rating in 3v3 the MAJORITY of our games resulted in multi R1s carrying other classes and while we lost most of them I can imagine how frustrating the game can be for those that have never played arena before and now have a strong desire to gather a team to que. With the gear that is available in PvP and the hype of Shadowlands we have a players readily excited to hit that que button and enter a competitive state. However, what if the majority of those players knew that in order to play at a 2k mmr youd have be able to play at the 2.4mmr? They would be demanding change, and this is the state we are in.
The amount of carries, win trading, gold and money involved in these carries is not only unfair but is putting the game in a horrible state. Is it impossible for new players to hit glad? absolutely not. However, the hidden truth is that hitting Rival, Duelist, or Glad does not require the rival, duelist, glad skill but requires skill way above that. Why? Because the majority of your games will be carries or players that are in a way higher skill level, some will respond " I do not see carries" well if they are not playing their own account how would you know? - You wouldnât.
Recently, there has been lots of light on the companies that are selling carries for gold and money. There are tons and tons of players who hope to get the opportunity to make WoW into a full time job by having casual players pay for carries. The ultimate dream job. . . at the cost of the entertainment of arenas.
How do we fix this - Allow achievements to be the foundation of MMR. While it doenst have to fully mimic but for example, if someone has a rank 1 from last season and they que their first game of the arena, their mmr should automatically be around 2700+. The mmr hasnât been changed in forever and its time there is an update. If you hit glad last season and you que your first arena game the next season, your mmr is automatically at 2.4. While there are small details about cr in losses and wins that can easily be worked out, but the overall design will mimic other games that structed skill levels appropriately. Allowing players to que EQUAL to their skill level. Achievements should factor into mmr, and while it does not have to 100 percent match but use achievements as a foundation on how to set mmr. Without it, a combatant queing to get a spider mount and can easily que into 2 rank 1s carrying a combatant who paid 2 million gold for a spider mount carry. Players should not be able to lower their mmr by creating new toons, forming new groups, or purposely losing so they can carry who they like.
While this will not completely stop carries but will most certainly limit the abuse and allow the game to continue to being great. Players performing carries for gold and money will now have harder time by a simple change that not only favors new players but also favors players of every skill level.
