Are you still playing hybrids? If yes, why?

Pure DPS specs are performing much better in both damage and self-healing.

You have been outclassed. So again, I ask you, why do you still bother playing hybrids?

Yes. Why? Because I play ret paladin.

Edit: This is from my first BGB today. It was in AB, so mostly everyone was scattered. But I think second highest damage (even though this is irrelevant) and doing nearly as much healing as a healer is acceptable. Plus my utility is a lot stronger in the small teamfight settings.

I used to main my boomkin but after multiple years I finally ditched it. Who cares if I have a castable self heal when I can’t even full heal myself without going OOM. Does not help that boomkin’s main defensive is going into bear form not able to do damage while still getting chunked. Meanwhile on my hunter Iv got simular if not better self healing and multiple defensives that also provide some form of healing.

I pretty much only play hybrids that have a healing spec. I dont like not being able to hwal myself at all, personally. Makes me feel naked, so to speak.

starfall is pretty busted in some situations

like isle of conquest my boomy can just press starfall and do 100+ mil dam in first 30 sec of game

not bad for a hybrid =P

I still don’t understand how starfall works in pvp? Does it attack EVERYONE in in combat in 40 yard range? Or only people with ur dots?

Dev evoker is a hybrid and it does great damage. I like having the ability also to rescue/heal teammates.

100mil divided by 5000 ppl is just pad getting passively healed. Now 20m on 2 people is real.

I’ll be honest, I’m a bit skeptical about this screenshot. Based on your initial comment, the time it took you to edit and post this screenshot, and the huge disparity in damage and healing compared to the other rets and DPS, those numbers just don’t seem real.

Do you have a video of the game, or could you record one?

It’s an AoE with a 40-yard range, right? It hits people and pets too? Assuming it did total of 101 million damage over a duration of 30 sec and there were roughly 25-40 enemies in its range, it would have done approximately 50,000 to 80,000 damage per tick to each enemy. You are right, it’s not bad but it’s not great either.

You are absolutely right. Devastation Evoker is the exception.

I had typed up more of a response, but I felt ridiculous defending myself tbh. I have literally nothing to gain from editing a screenshot.

I didn’t record the game, but the best I could do for you is live stream my details and share the video. If you’d like, I could even turn it back on and show you in real time. The differences between my damage/healing and the other rets will be obvious.

It doesn’t add up to 80m; it adds up to 63m+. The other Paladin you’re showing does add up to 30m+. Also, this can be faked too. I could make a video of myself faking this as proof that “details!” records can be faked.

I would really appreciate a video of an entire game with the “details!” open, if it’s not too much to ask.

I’ve seen tanks ranking top on damage done before. Maybe that just means the dps weren’t playing that well, but it happens.

Why is the burden of proof on them to record a whole entire match just to satisfy your own suspicions, instead of on you to prove that it’s a fake screenshot?

I mean if you are gonna make a claim, you must be able to back it up with proper evidence. A screenshot and a “Details!” logs does not prove anything. They can be faked. Which is why I asked for a video of a game where they are doing this kind of healing.

Also, I’ve already shown that the screenshot can be faked. I can also show that the “Details!” records can be altered by changing the numbers in the addon’s saved variables, it’s not really complicated to do.

I don’t doubt that. But 63m+ to 80m+ is still a big gap and does not match the 80m+ being displayed in the total tally. Which is why I asked for a video of a match where you are doing this kind of healing, that’s all.

Videos can be faked as well though.
If you are going to ask someone for evidence, and then they provide evidence (screenshots, log, etc), only for you to turn around and call said evidence fake without any evidence of your own that it is fake, at that point the burden of proof shifts to you.

You’re moving the goalposts.

“Show a screenshot!”
“Okay now show a Details log!”
“Well those can be faked so now record a match!”
What’s to stop you from saying “you edited that match and faked the scoreboard” if they share a video?
