I tank as a prot paladin with a shield just fine i tell dps to count to 2 and go ham
Well prot paladins are different then prot warriors and don’t rely on rage, though paladins will have their own issues and honestly tend to have less threat overall, though it does get interesting in raids with kings spam for threat. Even so, there are two parties that make up holding agro, the tank and DPS, its upto the DPS to stay below the tank.

Fury prot do everything you do but better, theres nothing good in the prot tree that isn’t taken by fury

holy horse shoe theory batman, when you are a new warrior throwing your 2 hander around with 4 talent points running deadmines your spec doesn’t matter.
When you are maxed out with full bis you can tank raids with no pants.
In the middle is running content against enemies your level and higher and prot makes sense then. Not before you have gear or talents, not after the content is trivialized.
People look at what end game speed running is and think “that’s how to play!1!!” but it is really like a pokemon trainer reading strats and knowing how to win with a perfect team yelling at his rat monster to do better.
p.s. it works when it works cause your healer is competent, thank a healer and give them mana pots you loot.

a dps warrior can tank just as well as prot, probably better in most cases
Technically spec does matter… lol.
Shield slamming in dungeons aint gonna do much to keep threat.
Have to say kind of find all these threads funny, I don’t think I have played on a server yet, where I could actually care what spec the tank was while leveling up, have always just been happy to have a tank period.
Also what really defines a good tank while leveling isn’t there spec, but the fact that they watch their healers mana, and make adjustments and pace as necessary.
