All you guys still playing, this expansion

Nope. I did Bastion and started Maxx but I just couldn’t continue. I’ bored out of my mind as well no hype.

Not playing until next week since I’ve reached max renown for this week (3) and waiting for them to nerf some of the mechanics of the Torghast bosses (cough Boss that has 2 different casts and 1 uninterruptable that you’d need 5 interrupts on a constant 15 second cd to beat without cheesing with gear cough).

I feel like this expansion would be way more fun down the road. Right now I am honestly not enjoying it and I am trying. Hard.

With flying at least the wq chore would be manageable. I wouldn’t need to spend hours doing these wqs instead of doing something I actually enjoy doing. I talked about this in another topic, at least give us the whistle until pathfinder. That would be ā€œfineā€ for now. I also really don’t like that we need to carry around the anima in various forms for whatever reason.

The story picks up midway through Maxx and the other zones are good, Bastion was terrible all throughout.

Ugh that torghast. Just another gear check instead of something else far more interesting. I didn’t like the last boss in upper all the debuffs/buffs on him and I know they ā€œremovedā€ the timers but still the bosses have their own ā€œenrageā€. It just feels so punishing being undergeared. At least in the visions it was leaning far more on mechanics rather than ā€œgearā€ how silly that may sound.

nerf torghast? uh… i soloed all 6 levels of all 3 layers of both wings with ease. This is 100% a you problem lol.

I don’t think I even died once in all of my torghast runs. How do you even die??

Real talk though, this is a really great opportunity in complete solo content with no time limit to really learn how to play. You may find that more parts of WoW even open up to you as a result!

I played through two and a half zones before hitting max level. I’ve gradually gotten way weaker than I was when I started. There is no obvious way to gear back up to my level 50 power. I kind of dreading working through the rest of the campaign while being so weak. I remember when the game used to reward you for side questing. Now no good deed seems to go unpunished.

Playing it? Yeah. Entertained? Not really.

its really not that hard… you don’t even have to be a try hard you just have to know the basics of your class…

Shocking how atrocious the start to the 50-60 experience is. Ardenweald and Revendreth are acrually pretty great, but the maw start and Bastion are so awful it’s making people drop the xpac before they get there.

That wasn’t my point, my point was that bosses like Observer Zelgar are ridiculously overtuned.

I just did floor 2 again just now and it was worlds apart in terms of difficulty than whatever Observer Zelgar was (I fought Arch-Suppressor Laguas this time).

Also yes, if you get easy bosses like that you don’t have to be a tryhard, I know how to play Warrior but Zelgar needs to be nerfed. The funny thing is, on the run I just did, I got significantly worse upgrades than the ones I had vs Zelgar but still facerolled through Laguas.

I think Battle for Azeroth was more brainwave entraining than Shadowlands.

Updating this now. Just did lvl 3 Torghast and had Observer Zelgar as a boss again.

Looks like he did get nerfed during one of the maintenance downtimes as he only does 700 damage per Focused Blast instead of 5k like he did last time lol.

Thank god.

im enjoying some of it but cant find decent dungeon grind groups in my timezone, pugging is killing it for me…

This post is the equivalent of someone who removes the muffler out of their car in order for everyone to hear you screeching down the road, or peeling out.

We are all really impressed little buddy.

I managed to finish. My evaluation is as follows:

Bastion: sucks. It raises some light (like, stoned frat boys having a conversation at 3 a.m.) questions on morality, but ultimately it’s a boring, uninspired ride.

Maldraxxus: passable. I don’t like the zone itself, but the NPCs were (oddly enough) some of the most agreeable personalities I met during leveling.

Ardenweald: too long. It’s pretty, but the big reveal seems simultaneously forced, lame, and pointless, and when the Winter Queen just straight-up ignores you at the start of the zone, it feels like every interaction between a Blizzard dev and the playerbase ever.

Revendreth: decent story; pretty zone; crap execution. It’s the most frustrating of the four (outside the Maw) to get around in, and the story - while enormously, stupidly predictable - was at least spun decently.

The Maw: horrid. It’s like they took the (overall) negative player reaction to Argus and were like ā€œhey guys, how can we make this worse AND last the entire expansion?ā€ I get it - the Maw is supposed to be ā€˜hell.’ Except, this is a video game, and I’m not interested in experiencing actual hell.

Overall content grade: D-

I’m completely willing to put my money where my mouth is, and did, in fact, cancel. I might dip a toe in around, say, 9.2 or something, and use whatever catchup mechanic they’ve introduced by that point to cheese past the grind. But I’m not facing the tedious world quests, Torghast, the continuous, CEASELESS zerg in The Maw, or any of the other myriad frustrations that Ion appears to believe constitute engaging content.

Oh, and for the record: I loved BFA leveling. Loved it. I just hated the stuff that came after. So I am actually relatively easy to please (since a lot of people apparently disliked even BFA’s path from 110-120). But Shadowlands is just so far below even that standard that I cannot be bothered.
