I’m wondering if there is any interest in roleplaying on the new hardcore server.
If someone created a guild that really made it a safe space to RP within the context of a non-RP server then I might be interested. I made one of the RP guilds on Defias. It was a constant up hill battle to keep the guild RP. I eventually got demonized and a “mutiny” occurred. So I guess my answer really depends on if the RP community is really serious about RP or just luke warm about RP, and just masquerading as RP’ers to gain a following for their ego.
In Hardcore, I’ve loved to casually RP. By “casual”, I do mean in a guild, but mainly during events. And my experiences with other RPers have been mostly positive.
What I don’t always like is this race segregation thing some people insist on (within specific guilds I’ve seen), and even put other players down for because they weren’t that “chosen” race (I’ve seen it). That can be funny to an extent for a VERY short time frame, but anything longer than that tells me a lot about the person(s) in general, and then that becomes a turnoff for me to interact with people like that. Furthermore, too many RP events throughout the week that interfere with my leveling starts turning into an obligatory job rather than the casual fun that I like to have with RP. Casual Interest = twice a week, IMO.
So I’ve decided to stay the casual RP’er that I am in any version of WoW that I play rather than commit to an RP guild. Mainly for events, as that’s when I find it most fun.
Just expressing my own experiences with RP and the interests I’ve personally had, in case there are other HC players on the forums here who have had similar experiences and who have also only had casual interest.
This was my idea and the main motivation was the additional challenges of having no mages, warlocks, or paladins. I mean, everyone’s already cleared MC. So my thought was the only way to keep it remarkable was to add this additional challenge. Though keeping 3/4 Alliance races out really was a shame once the other RP guilds died.
After all of this experience I think it might be best to just find RP players or schedule RP events outside of a guild though. Hmm… IDK.
I’ve been a filthy casual so far, so I doubt I’m qualified to lead a guild, but if someone made one for the goal of roleplaying, I’d also be happy to join it.
