I disagree, respectfully.
I don’t really consider it very social to spam in trade chat “I’m XYZ profession, allow me to make things for you!” A bulletin board add-on (something that Blizzard could also make) works way better than Trade chat. Basically, when you post something in trade chat, it stays on the bulletin board for a few minutes until it goes away so you don’t have to keep spamming so that people can see your profession.
I think it is much better to just have someone put in a work order if they want something.
This isn’t necessarily true. If you put in a work order (and someone else posted this, can’t remember their name) for R5 and it doesn’t get filled, you can compromise with a R4 or even R3 (for perhaps a lower commision) or go the old fashioned route of just spamming /2 until you find someone that can craft what you want. Sometimes crafters ask for to much for R5 crafts (which is their right) and someone may want to go with a cheaper option. Currently, I rarely get any use out of the public order system because it is mostly only used for pvp gear (and alot of people offering only 100-200 gold commisions on recipes that cost 5k gold on the AH).
But I digress, I do think it would be a good option to allow someone to set quality on work orders.
