Are work orders server locked?

I literally never see Public work orders and it feels bad, spent a lot of gold leveling up my professions to make gold later through work orders and it’s so rare to see any work orders available and it feels bad.

People dont make public orders since they cant set quality requirement.
Are you making public orders? Probably not, so others dont aswell

They really should give people an option to set the quality they want with public orders.

Maybe they should, but there are few problems with that and that is why they dont allow it.

Such as?

One reason is with public orders people would avoid social interaction with crafter and Blizz said it is important part of the system, personally I dont blame them for that.

Another reason is crafters public order charges - atm crafter can do 1 public craft per day on average, so many orders would expire since noone could do them, esp. since all would be rank 5 required, there is much more customers than crafters.
Allowing more or less charges would open different problems, like one crafter could do them all and personal orders would cease to exist.

I disagree, respectfully.

I don’t really consider it very social to spam in trade chat “I’m XYZ profession, allow me to make things for you!” A bulletin board add-on (something that Blizzard could also make) works way better than Trade chat. Basically, when you post something in trade chat, it stays on the bulletin board for a few minutes until it goes away so you don’t have to keep spamming so that people can see your profession.

I think it is much better to just have someone put in a work order if they want something.

This isn’t necessarily true. If you put in a work order (and someone else posted this, can’t remember their name) for R5 and it doesn’t get filled, you can compromise with a R4 or even R3 (for perhaps a lower commision) or go the old fashioned route of just spamming /2 until you find someone that can craft what you want. Sometimes crafters ask for to much for R5 crafts (which is their right) and someone may want to go with a cheaper option. Currently, I rarely get any use out of the public order system because it is mostly only used for pvp gear (and alot of people offering only 100-200 gold commisions on recipes that cost 5k gold on the AH).

But I digress, I do think it would be a good option to allow someone to set quality on work orders.

Sure we can disagree on subject, in the end it is Blizzard who pulls the strings here and they seem to think it is better to keep PO without rank requirement for now.
