Its kind of insane that I cannot find this vital information anywhere and have to resort to asking people on the forums.
Most my chars are on a small server with only 10% of playerbase in my faction, if I need to roll somewhere else to participate in work orders i would like to know that now.
I’m on a medium-pop dual server (Greymane/Tanaris) and my Leatherworking char is seeing no public crafting orders.
Not in a guild with other players, and no one would send me a personal crafting order, so not seeing anything on those tabs either.
Not sure whether it’s just too soon for there to be any public orders on my server? I don’t even know how to create an order if I wanted to, so maybe no one else knows how either.
Probably too soon. It’s not even 24 hours yet.
See, that begs additional questions. I might expect that all it takes to create a work order is gold, and lots of players have plenty of gold. The idea that it’s too soon for work orders because it’s been less than 24 hours, suggests that it requires “something” other than gold to request a work order. And I don’t know what that “something” is.
OT, work orders are cross-faction but not cross-server.
That’s how I surmised it would be, because gear sold on the AH is generally per server (or connected servers); but it is cross faction now.
They really need to become cross-server (if they don’t want to open it up region-wide like trade goods then maybe split the region in a bunch of “clusters” for work orders)
I still don’t see any public orders on mine. I will place a test order tomorrow to verify it’s even working.
Also couldn’t find any public Crafting Orders on Aerie Peak for blacksmithing.
My guess is that we might see this get used more for alts/endgame later on and that everyone is doing the main quests right now.
I’ve seen 4 public Leatherworking craft orders on my server today. I hope there will be more soon. But I expect most people to use their guild.
It explains work orders pretty well in the quests that open it up. To place a public work order, you need to provide all the materials. To place a guild or private work order, you do not.
Finally made it to a crafting table and… zero public orders for BS?? How are we supposed to level it?
I am experiencing the same thing on NA-Sargeras. There are zero public work orders for Blacksmithing. I have had to walk some people through the process of creating one in trade to see if the system worked. It does work, no one is using it. I really thought at this point in the week people would atleast use the titan training matrix drops to upgrade that base 343 crafted gear. It seems that player behavior is not easily changed, and people would rather farm heroics until the end of time than place a crafting order to upgrade a targeted slot. I’m still hopeful that people will use it with time, as they will need to offload primal chaos.
The public orders you just place at those three NPC’s near the crafting area. The person asking for the order has to supply the mats for public stuff only private and guild will allow partial/no mats. Right now crafted gear is pretty basic. I would assume things will pick up once people start unlocking the epic recipes from reputation and the specialization systems.
Weird bc I am almost positive I saw a randomcharacter-randomserver thing when using crafting orders.
Is this just for personal orders or do connected realms work?
So what is the main purpose of the personal crafting if the cross realm is not making able to use- “account wide”

Cross faction definitely works. My dwarf was able to use a different player’s horde character to craft a weapon.
Im still wondering about the complex details to crafting professions. I really was hoping to make my alt characters on other servers gear through the order system. I have started to covert most of my characters to miner/herbing just to not have to deal with the insane cost of gold and time to level professions. People are talking this new system up but I have yet to see how its better. I had a mass of alts to keep from being at others mercy in past expacs. Just sad to see this change. I do see people filling orders for nearly no commission which make me think this is the only way to finish leveling crafters.
