Are we ready to go OOM as Hpal next week?

Latest nerf barely touches the AC + LS build which is now one of the best Raid builds of all healers (and extremely good in m+ too) as well as having decently high damage as healer and pretty good mana efficiency.

This will only nerf Herald + Regular wings builds (or you know Standard LS that almost no one plays).

This nerf will impact us as well in M+ and pvp but thing is Hpal doesnt have a real mana economy. If you are still playing Herald that is…

We got glimmers and Daybreak removed, and now we just have Blessing of Winter and straight up mana discounts like Truth prevails or undertuned mana refunds like Divine revelations/Liberation.

We have little to no abilities to consume excess mana nor real way to manage our mana outside of just stop pressing buttons and casting BoW on CD.

Also, why its mana still a topic here when we have whole healer specs straight up ignoring this mechanic all together?

What happens after they nerf LS+AC too and we are left with two mediocre builds to play?

TLDR;
Paladin has no agency over its mana. Other healers dont have this issue. These changes doesn’t touch LS+AC in raids and we will see more nerfs in the future, leaving Hpal in a terrible state if that happens with both builds feeling terrible.

I’ve already told my m+ group to expect more picnic breaks mid key. Woohoo!

We might complain about mana, but everyone knows it is peak gameplay to hold up a timed game mode to sit down and drink to restore mana. :smirk:

This spec has next to no agency over our mana consumption and Blizzard desperately need to fix that.

The bit that bites the most with today’s changes is the dev note which said Hpal were pressing Virtue too much.

Like how dare we when our kit lacks any semblance of an aoe heal in a m+ environment. Pesky Paladins dare to press the buttons the game demands of them…

Im guessing they want paladins to go AC since at the cost of having zero control over the healing, it heals a crap ton and costs almost no mana.

At least until they nerf that into oblivion lol while saying they want us to hard cast more.

I ran Heroic progression this Thursday with my guild and I decided to dip my toes into this LS+AC build that I made myself (because the ones on IV and WH both lack important changes to the base Pally tree, imo)

That being said, LS+AC is strong if played correctly (which I played it maybe mid level of it’s supposed use and I was constantly around 1m HPS each heroic boss), but after 2 hours of raiding I can assure you my hands and fingers were definitely feeling the strain of being a Melee Healer.

That being said, I’ll continue to play LS+AC for now and give Blizzard a big thanks for forcing us into LS like they tried 2-3 weeks ago with the attempt at a flat heal nerf and buffs to LS… Yes Blizzard, that’s sarcasm -_-

I would put money on the fact we get a big nerf or nuked weeks before the actual healing class (Resto Sham) gets their much needed nerfs.

Holy Light is meant to be our mana dump. Problem is that Blizzard kept nerfing its base healing rather than IoL. So now it’s pretty much never worth casting outside of having both IoL and Divine Favor up.

At least the mana dump exists.

If we looked at the mana consumption of healers in raid over Mythic fights, we can clearly notice an issue with Hpal compared to almost all the other healers.

There’s no way to conserve mana now. There’s no mana regen other than 0.5% refund on infusion use and blessing of winter.

If we are going OOM because of raid encounters requiring use to use Virtue, we can only stop pressing buttons to do something about it.

Worth giving Liberation and Divine Revelation a try?

Both are Incredibly undertuned. And not a real way to manage mana, doesn’t fix the issue in Hpal current design at all.

Both 1% to Virtue and a 0.2% nerf cost to HS may seem small, but this is exactly why paladin was having mana issues two seasons ago.

Check out the class tuning for October 29

This change is just proving to me that they do not think through about the issues that the supposed “feedback and data collection” bring to their attention.
This is a good summary from paladin’s discord:

These nerfs do not touch the best raid build (Lightsmith Avenging Crusader) at all and only hurt the builds that were already struggling on mana if u played the spec well. So u can continue playing AC with no changes at all. However, normal Wings builds and all Herald of the Sun builds, which were already behind and struggling on mana, are now even more behind and will struggle even more with mana. This nerf is in my opinion even more clueless than the 5% aura nerf from a few weeks ago. Avening Crusader is the build that does not spend any mana, and this nerf ONLY hurts NON-AC builds. I am frankly flabbergasted at the absurdity of this nerf, I have so many issues with it that I dont even know where to start.

AC/LS build is also 5-6% ahead of Herald+ AW:M build. Currently second top HPS in raid as well.

I’ve had HPRIEST go oom before me tho.

Am I The only one who doesn’t struggle with Mana in Herald/Might build? lol. I see everyone struggling with this and I believe the real problem of the herald is that outside of wings feels weak.

Did you play beacon of virtue? It could be pretty mana intensive.

yeah, all the time, sometimes even in raid (for fights like ovinax or rashan). if you are circling the blessing of seasons, you will not go OoM. Yesterday I was a little bit worried about mana (After the nerf) but before that I barely sit to drink.
