so i was watching some yt, think it was platinum wow, and realized, if sylvanas was capable of destroying the lich king, why didn’t she just do that in wrath and we never have that expansion? or did we just get into wow 2 at like cataclysm or something?
We’re in WoW 11.
I think I understand what you mean and if so, I have been thinking that our current timeline is really some alternate reality which all began when we crossed through the Dark Portal into Outlands.
If you’re referring to her destroying the helm of domination during the shadowlands cinematic, she didn’t have that power until she made a deal with the jailor which was way after Wrath.
Who’s been messing up everything?
It’s been Zovaal all along (ha, ha!)
Who’s been pulling every evil string?
It’s been Zovaal all along
He’s insidious (Ha, ha!)
So perfidious
That you haven’t noticed
And the pity is (The pity is)
Pity, pity, pity, pity
It’s too late to fix anything
Now that everything has gone wrong
Thanks to Zovaal (Ha!)
Naughty Zovaal
It’s been Zovaal all along
And I killed Arthas, too!
I didn’t write the story, I’m just quoting it.
I thought Zovall was hella lame.
WoW 2 was TBC.
No, after The Last Titan we will be.
I know, I was just being silly. Anytime I think of the Jailer I think of WandaVision’s “Agatha All Along” song. It sadly suits what Denuser wrote/retconned for Zovaal. Butchering old lore to hamfist the Jailer in.
Don’t ever stop being silly 🪿
No that will be WoW 14
Very clever. But we’re not talking about number of expansion units. You knew that, though.
Yes, Cataclysm was basically WoW 2. There were enough changes to basic mechanisms that it really should have been a whole new game. However…
They learned the lesson from EverQuest that launching a sequel game (EverQuest 2) to your MMO will tank both games when it splits the player base.
We are probably on WoW 4 or 5 by now.
No wow 2 they can barely work on this one.
Because whoever wrote Shadowlands was on a whole lotta mana crystals
WoW 13 will be the best.
I don’t think she was back then.
From a marketing POV, there should never be a fresh launch of “WoW 2.”
- Right now we have Classic, Retail, Remix, etc. all under the same WoW umbrella. Those all need to stay on the same subscription together. If they launch a WoW 2 independently of WoW 1, that may not happen.
- If they launch WoW 2 fresh and people have to re-sub, they’ll lose some subs from people who are just too lazy to bother.
- If they launch WoW 2 fresh, the scramble for names might be ugly.
- We would also lose pets, mounts, toys and achievements.
- Time skips might not work well for RPers if they decide to go decades into the future or the past.
- A big time jump might also mean losing more beloved characters, but at the same time.
- Player housing is being advertised as “evergreen.” If they fresh launch WoW 2, we’d have to start housing all over again.
What Blizz could do would be major upgrades across the board, where graphics and performance are optimized, bugs are fixed and we’re given some major QoL upgrades, but our existing accounts aren’t touched and nothing requires rerolls of characters people have had since Vanilla. If they want to call that WoW 2, I’m all for it.
They already did that. They just called it Cataclysm, not WoW 2.
Technically we are in WoW 11
