So according to M.O.T.H.E.R. we will get more information in like 77 cycles or so - which lead people to presume sometime in late May we would get our 8.2 patch.
However, no PTR has dropped at all for 8.2! Does that mean the PTR drops around late May or… what? Will we even get to test it out? I’m honestly surprised at how well Blizzard is keeping story-stuff under wraps for this expansion - it’s like there is so many ways it could possibly go at this point.
I’m just really eager to see what’s next.
Unfortunately it will happen when it happens and anyone telling you otherwise does not know unless they work for Blizzard.

they already broke the 77 day cycle… at this oint that’s just story and nothing more. they are really focusing on 8.2 saving the game… so let them take their time

So tomorrow there is going to be a gameplay preview of 8.2 with Jeremy Feasel. I’m gonna guess that we will get the PTR after that, or we will get it on Friday.

I agree with this. I think they are trying to create some hype so more people actually play on the PTR to test.
This PTR will be handled strictly in-house, to avoid plot spoilers.
PTR stands for PUBLIC TEST realm, we are the public who will test it.

Most likely will drop after the 8.2 preview. Happened for a patch in the last year id like to say 8.1? Was a qna and it dropped right after it ended
There’s already an encrypted 8.2 ptr on the ptr servers according to mmo champ so I’m betting tomorrow or Friday we’ll see it open up if not next Tuesday by the latest.
Didn’t 8.1 PTR also not work for like 2 weeks after it dropped?
To answer your question, yes we will get an 8.2 ptr build.
Secondly; stop spouting that 77 cycles thing as gospel, and then be confused when it doesnt work they way some people imagined it might. It was never meant to be any kind of real time count down.

my sub runs out this Sunday, and I think I will just wait for PTR to drop 8.2 so I can make some kind of judgement whether to re-sub based on that. Have not been too greatly entertained the last couple of months. If 8.2 doesn’t look any more appealing I will be hunting for another MMO to play for a while.
To be clear, you are basing your subscription on something that has just begun testing. Good call.
I’m basing it on content that’s to come. Just because it’s testing doesn’t mean they will do a complete 180º based on test results. The content will still be the content.

Just keep in mind that with something being billed as “the largest content update in WoW’s history” they might not release everything at first. So Greatbobbo has a point, if you’re basing your sub on something that might be coming, and it all doesn’t drop the first day you may miss out on what you’d actually like to see.
This is the version they send to vendor CDN for purposes like writing drivers for engine changes, stuff like that. That’s why it’s encrypted, it’s not meant to be datamined because its pushed out earlier for technical reasons.
Is there a written part of this “test”? If so I’m not prepared.
