Something that has bothered me is that despite the effort that goes into the development of this game, there aren’t enough posts that express gratitude for the blood, sweat, and tears that are poured into this game.
One portion of the player base that’s a repeat offender (and that I strongly advocate for removal from the game) is the PvP player base.
It’s a minigame that has acted as a tax to the resources of our game developers and yet time and passion has still been lovingly poured into it. It strikes me that despite Blizzard’s best efforts, they continue to endure being ripped off by bad actors who don’t appreciate the effort that’s gone into the development of PvP.
Another point of contention is the fixation on the Trading Post rewards. It’s free cosmetics for simply logging in and doing what you were already going to do. How prosperous are we that we can moan about assets (that someone poured time into to develop) that are free?
I think it’s important that we collectively wake up and try to be more grateful. I for one am happy to be here and I appreciate the passion that goes into this game from all angles.
In summary:
Remove PvP (move it to a separate client)
Soften your voice about nonmaterial issues (e.g., Trading Post is not as exciting for 1-2 months)
Soften your voice and make less noise about class balance. It’s being worked on, and it’s unhelpful to the process to be impatient
We show gratitude with our money! This is a capitalistic society, remember.
The anomaly is people who hate the game with a passion and still play. Blizz is a business, the only way anyone with decision-making power will care is if it impacts their bottom line. If you continue to pay, expect to receive the same service.
:DDOS Attacks causing server instability
:Server instability in open world during events like Theatre, World Boss and Undermine Zone in general
:Class (un)Balance is off the charts with too many abandoned specs/classes
:Gameplay Bugs that are never fixed
:Constant inclusions of - and I quote - “largely negative, with many players finding the system frustrating and disruptive to the game experience” systems like the Corrupted Visions, Drive, Borrowed power instead of focusing on what players actually want
:Constant rehashed content thats out of touch with the community
:M+ dungeon picks that people cannot understand
So no, paying $20 a month for 20 years and still getting the same results in broken, out of touch and pandering to the casuals by giving them all top tier end game items… nah we’re not being ungrateful. Simple answer is the constant changes in Bliz HQ have led to a game which we all recognize as past its prime and it has a feel of Bliz themselves have given up in trying to work out what we want.
For what it’s worth. WoW and the WoW forums give me life. It’s my go to between activities or while I’m waiting for something. If I had to say two things I get most value for $ for is YouTube/WoW.
“Something that has bothered me” - Needs to be heard and appeased.
“Something that has bothered someone else but not me” - They are terrible people don’t appreciate anything.
WoW went from having influences stemming from pop culture to outright snatching up mechanics that exist in other games and marketing it as something they made into an original form.
Class balance has never been on the top of Blizzard’s priority list. Players have literally been whinging about it for years.
Blizzard is far to big of a company and WoW is far to well known of a game to have let many of their problems come to fruition for any reason other than either they didnt care or the money was good.
Companies need to be held accountable constantly and as subscribers were no less valuable than shareholders themselves. There is no money without subs, so it is in there best interest to follow what players want and need before something new and shiny comes to consoles or something.
