Are VPN's allowed

Hi All,

I’ve been getting absolutely severe lag when connecting to any U.S. realm as of late and just tried a free trial of ExitLag…and it was incredible. Lowest ping I’ve ever had in the arena, ever.

My only concern however is I’m seeing a lot of people say they’ve been getting banned for using Exit Lag (and other VPN software) and am wondering if this is actually a thing or if it’s people trying to downplay their shady activity whilst pointing to their VPN?

Can I get some guidance on this? I literally just want to be able to queue on a solid internet route during my downtime if I run a key or shuffle/3’s without risking losing my account trying to chase a stable ping.

Vpns are allowed but stick to the same one dont use multiple ones.

Also make sure u have all your real information on your account because if u have fake info and you get flagged for whatever reason good chance ur account xould get closed.

To keep your account 100% safe just assume it’s not.

VPN use is unsupported, but it is allowed. The teams that investigate are aware of their usage.

Ahhh…I literally just tried using Proton VPN right after ExitLag as well to see how it compared (so far Exit Lag seems to be the clear winner). This would just flag unusual activity but I wouldn’t get banned right?

Also if I kept turning my VPN on and off based on what groups I join (say for keys, I join an OCE group, relog after turning it off, then turn it back on if the key bricks and join a US group) would that trigger something at Blizzy HQ?

Honestly I’ll take my chances at this point. When I have spare time and want to chill out, I want to be able to play the game and not worry about whether my net is stable or not.

One additional suggestion: make sure you’re using an Authenticator. Suddenly appearing to log in from different locations (real network versus different VPN exit nodes) may trigger a security flag that using an Authenticator will be able to settle (“yes, it’s really still me.”).

Reason why i say real info is because the criminals willnuse fake info for there shady dealings.

Might also be time to start looking for a new ISP as it sounds like they aren’t optimised for gamers, which is what you should look for when thinking about a new ISP. Latency and lag will definitely be a problem with those that don’t optimise systems for gamers and streaming.

I’m not actually aware of any ISPs that’re optimised for gaming, per se. Maybe some are kinder than others?

Plus once the traffic has exited the ISP’s network, it’s just going on the cheapest route to Timbuktu.

VPNs mainly help by circumventing those extremely circuitous or otherwise low-performing routes.

Problem with that is in many areas: there’s only 1 ISP, because they often chose not to compete with each other.

Sorry for the slow replies, life keeping me away from Azeroth, but thabks everybody for the info/help.

… but nothing to worry on this front. I only commit identity fraud in person :grin: that and im too forgetful to have more than one split persona.

No can do unfortunately. I live in a repurposed shed and have to play off 5G. The benefit of this though is I pay like 600 a month in rent, so its worth the :poop:y internet.

If anybody is curious, exit lag so far has ben fine and only causes me grief once
