Are Trolls and Goblins the only natural races of Azeroth?

This is something I noticed a while ago and am probably not the only to as well.

It seems like almost every race on Azeroth is not native to it or at least not naturally evolved on it. For example, many of them were spawned from Ancients created by the Titans: Pandaren (and the Furbolgs) came from a bear spirit (like Ursoc), murlocs from a frog, and tauren from a bull spirit. Others were the result of the Curse of Flesh turning Titan constructs into mortal beings: Earthen in dwarves, mechagnomes into gnomes, and keepers into vykrul (which in turn spawned humans). And finally, the orcs and draenei both came from other worlds.

But nothing has really been said about the trolls and goblins. They seem to be actually native to Azeroth, as in they naturally evolved from the wildlife there. One could argue the trolls came from a dinosaur or a lizard spirit (hence the Zandalari’s scales and their regenerative ability), but this is inconclusive. Kaldorei (and the High/Blood elves by extension) did naturally evolve, but it is suggested they evolved from dark trolls who were exposed to the energy of Well of Eternity.

True, goblins got their intelligence from titan experiments on them with kajamite, but other than that, they seemed to be there before the titans arrived.

In conculsion, I just noticed almost race on Azeroth is not natural to it and can pointed out to the Titans somehow, except for the trolls and goblins (And orcs and dranei, but again, they lived on Draenor before they came to Azeroth)

Before reading the post: No.

Elementals are the only 100% sure naturals of Azeroth, everything else is not confirmed.

Now I proceed to read.

I guess you are right about that. The elementals were there too, when the Old Gods came and enslaved them.

The Tauren where on Azeroth before the titans shaped other life forms on it. Obviously they evolved into what they are now but the Tauren are technically the oldest race on azeroth.

Pretty much yah, Trolls and Goblins are of unkown origin so they might be Azerothian “naturals”. I don’t recall if …Yaungol was it? whatever name of Tauren ancestors have a defined origin…

In any case there are things we don’t know such as :

Would there ever be any kind of life, other than elementals, had titans not come?
Are there life forms that were not originally handcrafted by anyone, but would not have existed without Eonar’s powers?

And of course the actual origin of Trolls, Goblins, and whatever other random Azerothian fauna.

Edit: Also, this is a wild theory, highly unlikelu, but, same as many creatures were created by Wild Gods, perhaps Bwomsandi actually created trolls, and his troll shape is his REAL shape (not some shape taken by choice), and made trolls at his image?

Do the Mantid/Aqir count…they evolved during azeroths primordial days from ooze falling of the old gods.

I think our green skin is a result of the experiments as well, and in that case we goblins wouldn’t be entirely unchanged.

What Murlocs? They as natural as you get

A bit tangential but I’m not sure if one could consider Elementals a race. They barely have much of a culture or society beyond a somewhat vague hierarchy.

They’re the result of alien pimpils oozing. I wouldn’t say they’re natural to the planet.

As far as is currently known, trolls are the result of life springing up around the Well of Eternity(the result of two alien factions interfering), no one cares enough about goblins to explain it, and tauren are the result of the Well and Freya.

That could be true. But then again, trolls can become loa too, so Bwomsamdi could have been a normal troll at some point.

I wouldn’t really count the aqir or mantid as natural races since they fell off the Old Gods, who were invaders.

Weren’t the Yangol regular tauren until the Sundering left them stranded on Pandaria?

Bwonsamdi is stated to predate trolls in Shadows of the Horde.

Yaungol are the root species. The tauren were shaped from them before the Sundering.

I thought Trolls were the oldest. I was under the impression Tauren came after the Sundering, evolving from Yaungol, which would make them younger than Trolls and Night Elves.

Don’t forget centaurs, OP. They’re supposedly Cenarius’ children.

I’m fairly certain all life on Azeroth was molded in some way. A lot became what they are from being near the Well of Eternity, including Trolls and Tauren.

The earliest humanoids of azeroth where trolls. Which evolved into nelfs and the other peoples of azeroth.

Only two people not from azeroth are the dreanei and orcs. The rest evolved over time on azerorh.

But the dreanei are pretty peaceful. And orcs have tried mass genocide 4 to 5 times now.

The original inhabitants of Azeroth were the old gods and the elementals who both waged war for dominance until the titans came and put them all in a “time out” and seeded the planet with robo gnomes and granite dwarves as caretakers in thier stead but the power of the old gods mutated them with the “curse of flesh”

But like I said in the OP, most of the races on Azeroth were the results of the Titans. A lot of races were created by the Ancients (which were created by Keeper Freya, who was a titan construct). Others were originally titan constructs that got turned into flesh by Yogg-Saron.

Not just humans, dwarves, and gnomes were the results of the Curse of Flesh. Tol’vir, sea giants, and mogu were all titan constructs before Yoggy made them all fleshy.

Technically all elves are Azeroth natives as well, ya know, cause of us being mutant trolls and all.

just going down the list from the character creation,

alliance-----------------

humans: titan construct off sping

dwarf: former titan constructs.

nelf: evolved from trolls but evolved because of titan interference (ie well of eternity)

gnome: former titan constructs.

draenei: alien goats

worgen: same as humans but with wolf magic added.

pandaren: natural to my understanding

velf: same as nelf since belf evolved from nelf

lf draenei: shiny alien goats

di dwarf: same as dwarf

kul tiran: same as human

mechagnomes: former titan constructs.

horde-------------

orc: natural inhabitant of draenor

undead: same as humans but undead (or whatever story fits as undead aren’t limited to humans)

tauren: natural to my knowledge

troll: natural inhabitants of azeroth as they existed pre old gods.

belf: same as nelf

goblin: they are a byproduct of titans making kajamite. they found kajamite after being used as forced labor by the trolls.

nightbourne: same as nelf

hm tauren: same as tauren

mag’har: natural inhabitant or ALTERNATE draenor

ztroll: same as troll.

vulpera: probably natural. it seems like furry races and trolls are the most natural races on azeroth.

going over it, the alliance are almost completely not natural to azeroth. the only natural inhabitant are nelfs but they were heavily influenced by titan actions.

Nightelves are simply here to protect Azeroth led by the super powered Sailor Elune and the rest of her team

I believe they were shaped by the mogu, which are descended from Titan constructs.

Orcs are descendants of Grond, a massive earth giant created by Aggrammar. They share a lineage with ogres, ogron, gronn, and magnaron.

Descendants of yaungol due to the Well of Eternity, and the yaungol I think are Niuzao’s creations, who in turn exists as a Wild God because of the Well and Freya.

This was retconned. The trolls’ progenitors sprung up around the Well of Eternity as a result of magic radiation.
