what does this have to do with what i said? i think you replied to the wrong person.
Theyâve been noncommittal about that topic but I have a sinking feeling theyâll turn it on with Dragon Soul. LFRâs implementation in Cata was specifically awful. Iâd be fine with it if I could just ignore it, but some of the LFR gear (specifically some of the trinkets and weapons) were even better than Heroic Firelands gear, which pressured us into running it if we cared about progressing on Normal/Heroic at all.
The common argument that âLFR allows casual players to experience endgame content!!â falls apart when you realize how miserable of a slog LFR is. If someoneâs VERY FIRST raiding experience is a wipe-fest where no one knows what to do and half the group is AFK, do you think theyâll have a positive opinion of the âendgameâ at all? Or even be motivated to continue raiding? I guarantee those players will have a much better time joining a casual dad guild and clearing content on normal. We used to joke that âLFR is harder than Normalâ for a reason.
They should just take away trinkets and tier gear like they did for awhile in retail (no clue if theyâre still doing it or not), and that would solve the issue. Players that want to experience the raid content but are unable to dedicate time to a normal/heroic raid will still be able to experience it, get a few purple stat sticks, and ggs.
It dilutes raid as content.
Iâd explain it further to you but I already know it would be pointless because youâd just act obtuse on purpose.
Thank you, Ivixia!
Iâm not acting obtuse on purpose, I donât think Iâm acting obtuse. But if you raid normal or heroic why should it matter if some wants to do LFR? Stop trying to control how other people play the game.
I agree
LFR gives an option to the casuals, alts or what have you. You donât get best tier gear but at least you can raid. HOWEVER, I donât think weâll see it from what public releases stated:
" â[W]e actually donât have plans for introducing it at this time to Cataclysm Classic. Thatâs not to say that we will never introduce it. Thatâs not to say that we wonât necessarily decide if enough players are letting us know, âHey, that is actually something we really want to see.â We may decide to introduce it later on, but at this moment in time, we donât have any plans of introducing Raid Finder to Cataclysm Classic.â"
BUT it could happen towards the end. My guess is AFTER the last raid is defeated by a guild.
Translated - Things I just made up and have no real substantive basis for.
My guess is the same phase it was originally added, when it will require little or no work to implement and a significant amount of work to remove.
While I for some reason associate dungeon finder feature with WoWs demise, and while anecdotally Iâve seen that this sentiment is not unique to me, I agree that a LFR (lookin for raid) might as well get jammed in there alongside LFD (lookin for dung). Furthermore, the dungeon finder is pretty clutch because it allows fully async group forming. So even though it felt like it completely gutted the server engagement and group forming aspect, as well as the friendship forming aspects, at least itâs more convenient.
Also before I started writing this rant I wanted to say today I had the epiphany that itâs the finder is completely opt-in. For some reason I always ignored that in the past and just focused all of my dislike into its existence.
If Classic was going to end with Cata I would say forget about LFR because we only had LFR for the last raid of Cata anyway, so why bother? But if the plan is to continue into MOP and beyond, Iâd say we should have it. This is like RDF all over again, just give us what we had and leave it at that.
