I camped deep inside a Silithus cave at the furthest point in the back and went offline for a few hours, when I came back I started moving through the cave and a Rich Thorium spawned right near me. I go over and start to mine it and I was immediately cheap shot by an alliance rogue.
How is it possible for him to be there within 5 seconds of it spawning unless he had some sort of timer on it or something?
This type of thing happens all the time.
I will layer and see a node spawn and I’ll get attacked while mining it like the person knew that specific node was spawning right at that time.
The government installed cameras in your house and is following you around in WoW. They did it to me too. I go to places like dungeon entrances and raid entrances and people are already there. How could they do that unless they knew?
But nah seriously though I know for sure there are clusters of resource nodes that do follow a timer where one resource will spawn in that cluster within a given time window. The most well known one is black lotus. But it applies to other herbs and I’d assume mining nodes as well.
If it were just the one time I’d chalk it up to coincidence but if it has been multiple occasions as you say, it gets a little more difficult to do so.
I just can’t imagine how you could make such an add-on work. Wouldn’t there be too many variables to account for? X number of possible spawn points, Y number of nodes that can be spawned at any given time, Z amount of time between a node being tapped and the next node spawning. Likely some more variables I’m not even thinking of.
I think you may just have a very dedicated fan club.
Honestly it’s probably experience. I’ve figured out the spawning timers for plaguebloom in Western Plaguelands. Farmed so much plaguebloom I haven’t needed fo farm any in like 6 months and I still have loads.
You are making the mistake of mining it as soon as it spawns, not expecting there to be a bunch of stealth rogues waiting to do the same thing. Just wait for them to mine, kill them, then mine. If you see a node spawn, wait 10-20s, then mine it.
They were just stealth nearby, unlucky. There is also some confirmation bias as well since you probably remember the ones where you got ganked more than all the times nothing happens.
