Have we completely explored every inch of Azeroth by now? Are there any other worlds in the warcraft universe that has any rich history or lore behind it other than Outland/Dreanor/Argus? Is there nothing left to explore (geographically speaking) in later expansions?
The Old Gods can raise earth any where they want on Azeroth. Part seas, shift sands, etc.
There’s still the back side of Azeroth.
We still have a few island chains, like the South Seas that we haven’t been to. We have not been to the Dragon Isles yet. There is also Ny’alotha (the capital city of the Black Empire - ie, the Old Gods). The entirety of the Shadowlands have yet to be adventured to as well.
Well…we might go to The Black Empire for all I know.
This is the last bit we know of I think, but much like Pandaria, they’ll continue to make up more continents or islands as needed. That or go back to the Cata route of expanding what we already have (but that’s basically retconning since the empty bits on the map are all filled now, cept for the Quel’Thalas bit that’s actually just Ghostlands before Ghostlands).
We’ve only seen one half of the planet. It’s tidally locked somehow, even though we still experience a day/night cycle. We’ve never seen the dark side of the planet.
Pretty sure this expansion basically fills that role. It just can’t literally be south because Pandaria is there.
We might see Ny’alotha, but it’s likely to be a raid and at best a small hub like Antoran Wastes rather than a continent for an expansion. We might see the Shadowlands but that’s not exactly a continent either and I don’t see them placing an entire expansion there.
Yea, I was hoping for something like another EK or Kalimdor. Will we ever see a new continent of this capacity?
True. On that note though, I never thought they could make a whole expansion on the Broken Isles before. Originally in lore it was pretty much just the Tomb of Sargeras and some night elf ruins.
I hope so, but no one knows for sure.
The Dragon Isles have become cannon and we have yet to explore them. They have history.
Maybe Uranus is part of the WoW universe.
Heck we still got the other end of Azeroth were only looking currently on one side of the planet.
We still have that wide open area in between Kalimdor and the Maelstrom that they could plop some stuff into.
Edit: read Calaart below me
so there’s a few theories that have never been confirmed or denied, the only hint that they could be true is blizzard saying that the globes we’ve seen in game are not actual representations of azeroth but just set pieces.
There’s potentially the other side of azeroth that is still unexplored, sailing west from kalimdor or east from the EK.
if you look at azeroths climate, it really looks like all of wow takes place in the northern hemisphere, it gets very tropical/arid the further south you go, implying that places like pandaria, strangelthorn, and tanaris are near, if not on the equator. This would mean there’s an entire other hemisphere to explore.
the globe thing was said long before we went to argus and saw the spinning azeroth, so who knows if that’s a canonical represenation of azeroth or not.
Ancient Kalimdor (before The Sundering) would be pretty freaking massive project I would love to see Blizz take on.
Yes there will be 2 more coming Mechagon and Nazjatar
Dragon Isles is the only unexplored spot that’s been hinted at in the game, as far as I can tell. I also wouldn’t count out going back to a rebuilt, more fully explorable Kezan/Undermine.
