Dunno what point you are trying to make.
But yeah, done right you could mimic one of those loss of control episodes.

tbf loss of control for the forsaken was only a problem with arthas, once he died there wasen’t a threat of falling back under control
Sounds like a personal issue than. The point is pretty clear
It’s your inability to properly relay information from what you are thinking to what you are gonna say. Anyway, not my job to teach you.
Not necessary that kind of control. I mean they can still go insane. Hell, many of them already are.
Bad things never happen to the alliance so the users of void will succeed without consequences.
Loss of control isn’t fun isn’t that hard to understand
Again, it’s a personal problem that YOU have in not understanding that
I said done right. Why is it so hard to talk to you people?
This is an RPG game. Not a sandbox. You follow a path set before you with specific goals that you have to complete to progress the respective quest. Most of you don’t even read the text so you have no idea what’s really going on.
Done right, the loss of control can be presented via a quest, like in Bioshock if you know what I’m talking about.
Nottaking away control of your character, like a mind control spell, that’s not the right way to do it.
God forbid Anduin or the Alliance by extension do anything even remotely dubious!
I think it’s the opposite. When you dabble with radiation you get more radioactive, not resistant to it.
So, Blizzard will most likely not mess around with this because emo elfs are a playable race, but lorewise I’d wager they are very much a liability should we take Alleria as an example of what happens when someone takes too much void power to themselves. They become a gateway or antenna so to speak. But making these characters fall to madness or be controlled would take away player agency. To draw a comparison, being controlled worked for DKs because breaking free of your mind control IS the whole point.
Now, something workable would be to have a questline specific to void elves where Xal starts to meddle with them, compelling them to do things. You could have a main objective, which is to obey what she says, and an optional objective to do the opposite in resistance of her. They could do something neat like the N’Zoth eye thingamabob that people who surrendered to her have some kind of cosmetic option to show they surrendered to her fee- Ahem Her will.
The implications of that long term would most certainly be troublesome when she inevitably turns into a loot piñata, but the same happened to N’Zoth so idk.
They wound up in this situation by basically opening the puzzle box from Hellraiser, are always at risk of mutating into a mindflayer and were the most common Void footsoldier in SW Horrific Visions.
So they should probably be looked at less as liabilities and more time bombs. But this is the Alliance so I’m doubtful we’re going to get any deep dives into horror themes.
If only it was just the Alliance. They might just shove them down the Horde’s throat in Midnight.
When Midnight comes along, one wonders if they are going to forget about what happened the last time Alleria visited the unwell so that she can be the hero of the expansion.
I don’t think so. I think we’re on the cusp of finding out that the Void itself isn’t evil, anymore than Order is good. While The Xal may be able to control the Void, I think it’s because she’s part of a World Soul attuned to the Void.
Depends. Xal’atath is shown to have limited control over Alleria’s body (visions and stunning her briefly).
As for the Lightforged, the MU Lightforged weren’t controlled by the “Light Mother” when she was alive (Turalyon and Lothraxion were even able to challenge her), so I don’t think Lightforged can be controlled that way.
I think she’s going to give in to the Void at the end of TWW and corrupt the Sunwell which will be the premise of Midnight.
That’s my bet.
That’s totally something Blizzard would do.
But she will do it for the BEs own good. And they will end thanking her (and the other Alliance she brought along) for saving the day from the awful path the BE were on.
Totally fits how Blizzard has been writing for years.
You assume there is still going to be a Sunwell left. Hey, weren’t certain blood elf fans wanting to go back to their more vicious roots? What would be more true to blood elf form then losing the Sunwell again and having to deal with mana addiction again?
Every elf is a liability
If I thought there were a possibility of that becoming core to their identity going forward, I’d be all for it.
Instead, we’ll get: “Oh no, the Sunwell done been Midnighted plumb fierce, fellers!”
Followed by “Boy howdy, this new All-Inclusive-Well is so much better than that discriminatin’ Sunwell what sunned too well, fellers! Now, all elves can visit at their leisure and no one suffers any addiction or withdrawal or anything ever again.”
The blood elves’ new best friends tend an ancient Highborne tree that cures the arcane thirst at the root. Even if they did lose the Sunwell they probably wouldn’t be reduced to bottom-feeding addicts again.
