Good day! As patches happen and things change over time, are the specialization descriptions updated to apply to the current state of the game (Referring to the Retail version if these things differ for the Classic versions? Most specifically, are the descriptions for choice weapon styles all applicable and viable in the current state of things? If the descriptions have never been updated and are no longer accurate at all, would they, at least, work reasonably well for the expansion content that the specializations were released in? Or have things been patched enough here that many of the descriptions just aren’t viable under any circumstance?
Descriptions where?
Teh Interwebz fall out of date all the time, ofc. If you are looking at old YouTubes o rweb pages from 5 years ago, you really need to check that the info is still current.
But the game itself, and the main sites around it, like Wowhead and Icy Veins, will not feed you out of date info - certainly not on something as central as class specializations.
You might find a quest sequence change from 3 expansions ago that Wowhead didn’t pick up on, something like that. But you will get solid info on things like primary stats and weapon types.
I’m referring to the in game descriptions in the main Specialization tabs. For the Holy Paladin, for example, it states that their preferred weapons are Sword, Mace, and Shield. I think that you answered my question here under a different topic that I had asked about, though. The Fury Warrior and Frost Death Knights state in their descriptions that they use two melee weapons. It sounds like many of the specializations will have viable choices available outside of these descriptions in today’s game.
Ah, I see what you mean!
Frost DK says
Preferred Weapons: Dual Axes, Maces, Swords
but in fact Frost DK can now use a two-hander. Hm. Seems to me the devs missed a spot in the description there. I’ve just logged it as a bug.
I suppose you could read it truly as “Preferred”, meaning “not limited to”, but it is misleading as is.
