Are the match game world quests REALLY so important to the time played metric

I’m trying to wrap my head around someone needing an addon for a match 2 game… and I can’t.

This like putting vehicle fights in raids or pushing PvEers to do PvP.

It’s the same ballpark as THAT stuff. How would you like your 8.3 cloak to be locked behind PvP or pet battles?

The design flaw of pushing people into content they don’t like is possibly the largest design flaw in retail.

Dude, why do you need an add-on for that. It’s like something my 8 year old nephew can do in like a minute… and he’s really not the top of his class.

The barrels certainly were not fun but they slowed them down so much that marking wasnt needed.

It is literally a take on a time old match game. It is one of my favorite WQs and I always stop by to do them. I doubt I have ever had it take more then a minute.

Yeah, the shell game is probably the fastest WQ that there is. It’s really easy to complete, and can be a little fun to make it through without wasting any clicks.

I don’t under stand how people consider this tedious. It is fast and easy and a take on a classic much beloved match 2 game… I played this same game with my nieces and nephews thousands of times.

When someone in my guild told me about this, I thought it was too absurd to be true, but yet there it is.

Considering how quickly you can complete the shell game without an addon… I doubt it does jack all for the time played metric. The idea that breaking a shell game addon just to frustrate people into playing more doesn’t make logical sense. It’s more likely they updated the API, as they often do, and the addon was affected as a result… which is super typical for the vast majority of addons. Going all conspiracy theory on this is silly. I mean heck, they accidentally broke using external sounds. Does that increase time played? They accidentally broke Cross RP. Does that increase time played?

I did them with no help, I had addons and they still work and I’m running WOW on a lower end - typical laptop.

They aren’t important. You decide if you want to do them or not.

The barrels certainly were not fun but they slowed them down so much that marking wasnt needed.

They always moved in straight lines though… Even if 4 barrels cross through each other at once your barrel is still going the same direction it was before that happened

You are stating breaking an addon (that blizzard hasnt stated they broke) is important to a time played metric. Many pointed its not. That is not a personal attack.

once more, this “reading comprehension” is heartbreaking. some teachers will have a lot to answer for.

Ok, I doubt this will be enough, so let me “simply” this for you.

1. time played metric is what the game is based on.
2. wq list addon makes the utterly terrible wq system palatable by giving you a list on the world map of all wqs available, and you can click them to save them for later. also includes some helper weakaura-like systems to help make wq faster. for “shell game” you can click pictures to help remember where everything is.
3. going into the “shell game” wq with world quest list loaded causes the game to outright crash, lock you into the menu with nothing clickable until you relog, or makes the quest be uncompleteable so you are locked into the menu unable to move until you relog.
4. very clearly this functionality was “cheating” and so had to be broken so hard it makes the game softlock even trying to do the quest with the addon installed.

I don’t think I can “simplify” that further.

it’s not a shell game addon, it is a general world quest addon. IT SOFTLOCKS THE GAME. when it doesn’t softlock, the quest purposely does not complete anymore.

I don’t think this issue warrants declaring the sky is falling. It takes maybe a solid 1 minute of your in-game time.

So um, then don’t do it? You have 3 days for each emissary and there are usually 6-10 of their WQ up every day.

I use an addon for world quests, but it doesn’t softlock the game. I’ve no idea what the OP’s addon is doing, but it clearly is doing a super bad and should be updated. My addon also doesn’t actually do anything to try and help with the shellgame. That’s all brainpower.
