according to icy-veins/wow/dps-rankings-tier-list shadow priests are currently top tier. what are your thoughts? i might make one tbh!
Lots of fun, decently strong, and has the damage toolkit to perform well in a lot of situations.
About tier rankings though, take them with a big pinch of salt. The difference in preparedness between people who have been testing mythic Nathria has been massive, big enough to make any class look good if the person playing it happened to have been pre gearing on the beta / properly optimised.
Nothing in SL has been tuned yet, it’s not that I think any individual thing is too good or too bad, it’s that I feel like everything is all over the place, so we’ve no idea how things will shake out by the time the raid starts and bliz sit back to let the players work things out.
yeah i kind of knew in the back of my head that i should take it with a pinch of salt, i used to play a lvl 110 priest back in legion days pre-warmode and it suuuuucked. so i’m glad people are enjoying the current iteration of SP. magic has always been my kind of playstyle but i grew tired of frost mages and shamans back in the day. i hope we still get those void tentacles, ive always like them!
They’re a visual effect while you’re in voidform, so yes.
It was hard to play well, but it far from sucked. I’d say the new SL version though is much easier to be “ok” at.
i just didn’t feel like i could do much as an SP back in early legion days but then again i barely chased after gear. i just took whatever quest gear i got lol and went ganking in some cataclysm zone lmao!
Yeah that’s not the sort of thing legion Shadow was good at.
They are top middle of the pack now, the icy-veins list is very outdated. Check out the changes hitting tomorrow.
Those changes have been live on the beta for over a month. Nothing is changing to shadows SL performance tomorrow from the notes we’ve already seen.
Icy veins hasn’t updated since November 1st. The 11/17 changes are not included in its rankings.
Icy veins ratings are based on beta - which has already had almost all of the “changes” listed in the 11/17 notes. The notes are just beta changes being implemented on live servers.
The spec is great, as is Discipline. It “flows” well. The rotation is understandable and has a good balance of “hit this button next” and procs to respond to. It has access to meaningful talent choices. It has some of the best utility in the game, second only to Ret Paladins.
No, it’s not perfect. No spec is. But it’s tons of fun to play, it feels powerful, and it has a great theme.
15 percent nerfs seems like a lot but I guess time will tell how good or bad it is. As a fairly new priest it is annoying that blizzard seems to buff then nerf the hell out of them almost every single patch cycle.
As a terrible DPSer (hence why I only heal and tank) I can attest to this fact from personal experience. It is far easier to be adequate now as shadow priest, so if I extrapolate that observation out to people who have real skills I’m sure its amazing.
But I also just find it far more fun than the BFA version.
Lel yeah, that nerf will hurt. I like how they buffed Aff SB though
Giving us a tiny middle finger right before launch.
Those changes have been live on beta for over a month. It’s what we’ve been raid testing with and what most of us already assumed to be how shadow would perform in SL.
I understand, and knew the hammer was coming. Mostly being silly, but I was having a great time while it lasted.
Same!! I said similar to a guildie just now! When my Details showed the dps differences between my SPriest and other dps, I knew it was coming. But feeling OP was really, really nice while it lasted. It was good to feel awesome again.
We’re full on fotm spriests
